This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. It has several scenes that I love. Catherine and Evan in jail... I love their chemistry, but not as a couple. Evan and Vincent in the subway. For me, it's a turning point in Vincent's personality, much more confident, like Vincent 2.0. This scene changed the way I see Jay, and how he had changed his way of portraying Vincent. Each episode much better.I love it. The chemistry between Max and Jay was very good also, on the train and at the scene in the room with the cage. (I also want to know what Evan figured out that Vincent already knew). Evan's death... So so sad, makes me cry. And that Vincat conversation on the train, simply wonderful, adorable, honest. I want to see more like this in the remaining episodes and in the 3rd season.

I'm home! here is my review of the first half....I'm looking forward to watcging the macho subway scene now and then a caged Vincent....
The episode opens with Evan's world unravelling around him; he is drowning his sorrows, and in his case, the plural form of the word is truly fitting. Sorrow #1: the woman he has fallen in love with, is in love with someone else. Sorrow #2: she has been lying to him about the "creature" for a long, long time. Sorrow #3: the man with whom she has fallen in love and the creature are one and the same person. Hence, he becomes intoxicated, and uses this to justify his choices and actions.......what is he, a teenager!!!!! Evan is aware that if he hands the creature over to Murfield, this will hurt Catherine; although he claims to be doing what he does to protect her, he is consumed by hurt, jealousy, hate and disappointment, and these are the feelings that are driving his behaviour. Poor misguided Evan. I believe that the opening scene sets us up for his demise; we can already sense that by the time he comes to his senses and realizes that he has been playing with the devil, it will be too late for him to escape alive. Moreover, Evan receiving the panic button lets us know that he and Vincent will be face to face at some point, with potentially disastrous results. Another element of suspense presented in the opening scene is that Evan's naiveté may lead to Catherine being exposed to Murfield. At least he has a plan to separate Catherine from the creature long enough for Murfield to apprehend him and to have an opportunity to expose her lies-and they say that chivalry is dead!
This is followed by a delightful Vincat scene that we know will some how be interrupted: Gracias, Tess! It is the only light scene in the entire episode-heart of darkness it is-and it is really endearing to see them playing house and trying to create some semblance of normalcy-the one thing that can never be there's...although it is very entertaining to see them try. I say no more!......I only wish they had asked ME to define "lounge around"!!!! Once again: ¡Gracias, Tess!....The scene between her and Vincent is very real-awkward, funny, honest-it worked for me!
The girl talk on the rooftop has a wonderful combination of playful and serious, just the right balance. I love the line: Hulk with a heart of gold. Cat is so preoccupied about making Tess understand that protecting Vincent and keeping his secret are of the utmost importance, that she is oblivious to the fact that she is about to be sidelined by the very person to whom she has not been paying enough attention, Evan.
By the time Cat realizes what Evan was trying to do by getting himself in jail and calling her down to bail him out, Murfield is very much on Vincent's trail. She fooled him and he is now fooling her right back: pat yourself on the back, Evan, for a job well done! I loved that this scene takes place in a cell, because they are both trapped in their own lies, she in the ones she has told him and he in the one's he has told himself, and everything is now being exposed. Lies are the hardest things to escape unscratched. You can really sense that Evan is unable to understand how Cat could pick the creature over him; his ego is so bruised that he doesn't want to find out who the creature really is; he wants to label him a monster; that allows him to live with his choice to hand him over to Murfield on a platter
The Vincent/JT bromance is well and alive down in the dark tunnels-funny, funny scene-I for one was relieved that JT did not get caught in the cross fire. We all breathe again when Vincent escapes, but we know that both Murfield and Evan will be persistent.
The park bench scene is intense and painfully beautiful, and their feelings are intensified by the grey sky and the falling snow. We know that no matter what Catherine says. Vincent is now going to take things into his own hands...but Catherine is right when she says: I don't see that ending well. I love the impasse between them; it is so well acted, and off they both go to do exactly what they each feel they should do.
Between Catherine, Vincent and Evan, they are so hell-bent on protecting someone else that no one is thinking clearly and reasonably. Let's just throw Gabe into the mix for good measure. Their world's seem to be going to hell in a handbasket.....and unknown to all of them and us, the biggest threat to Vincent's and Catherine's happiness lies in the ADA, who is slowly but surely getting exactly what he wants and unscrupulously using anyone he can to get it. (Unfortunately for me, I was struggling from back in season 1 to stomach Gabe as the bad/ misunderstood and or good guy; I am not sure why the character has never worked for me.)
And here comes the best scene.....I'll do the second half when I get back from Mother's Day dinner!!! Have fun, chicas y chico!

Love your review of the first half this is one of my favouriet episodes and to be honest Evan never bothered me a a serious love interest for Cat becuase for me it was obvious that she knew that it wasn't going to go any further and knew that he was a flirt but I do wish they had'nt killed him off as for me him hooking up with Cat would have been more belieavble than Gabe ever was and still is seeings they decided to go down that rioute and have both Cat and Vincent hook up with someone else, so I did shed a tear when he died as I think that Max and Jay's scenes were really good to watch and you could feel the tension between them where Catherine was concerned and like you loved their subway scene it was spot on. I did feel for Evan becuase he really felt he was doing the right thing and just got so caught up with the wrong people without realizing it and just saw Vincent as a beast and I get that he thought he was protecting Catherine bless him. Have to be honest though if I was asked to pick just one scene that portrayed the heart of the show and the connection between Vincat it was the subway ride at the end it was just so right from when Catherine ask's Vincent how he found her and he reply's ' I never stop looking' my heart truly skipped a beat at that and the rest of the conversation between them was just and that is the Vincent I missed in season 2 and to be honest I will always miss no matter how many season's we get and I know that we now have old Vincent back in some ways and I am liking him again and just hope that they perhaps get some of that scene back again and it also made me realize that when they foundf Vincent in that warehouse in episode 1 season 2 that Catherine say's to Vincent ' I never stopped looking for you' is so close to what he says to her on the train. Him attempting to do his washing and them having a normal lounge around sunday was just and Tess's comment of sorry to sock block big guy was great this Tess I liked in season 1 but 2 not so much although it is slightly chan ging now and I hope it contiunes to becuase I loved her and Cat's relactionship in season 1.

we never really found out (and never will) why that murfield guy was protecting cat... Because he was a handsome guy everyone thought Cat would hook up with. did you know he is the main masculine character at the Tv show Haven? I like him! He's hot hot and has a nice voice too (nothing compared to Jay, of course!)
