... current audiences are a bit more "superficial" and may not be looking for shows "with heart" as we, beasties, do. I'm sure that's true and probably always was. Right now money is poured into stories about vampires - until that nonsense burns out and crashes like the stock market. Meanwhile, we are the steady, secure niche market Mr. Pedowitz can keep tucked away in his "portfolio". Look at Fringe again (and I do about once a month). It started out as the X-Files on steroids and morphed into something about family, romance and the transcendence of the human heart. Wait - what? There was a genius in the making of that show and it ran five seasons. Fans were crazy loyal. Reminds me of us. We can't be a force in the market place; all we ask is there be a place for us. I mean for a show about love, acceptance and healing - there just has to be.

I have 2 thoughts about that article: 1) Maybe Isaiah Washington can say something offensive again & get himself fired off the show or cause the numbers to plummet. He did it when he was on Grey's, so maybe he'll do it again.... 2) Maybe if the 100 breaks new ground on the CW, maybe there will be a place for BATB on that new real estate. If the CW is looking to be a more diverse network as opposed to just catering to the teen market. Maybe this will allow BATB to have a place as an adult show w/ exciting plot lines that in the future can revolve around romance/drama/humor/intrigue. I dont necessarily want these shows to fail, I just want BATB to win over them. I don't care who's dancing at the CW Ball, I just wanna be on the dance floor. I also dont know if I can support the #NoBATBNoCW. In my mind it just puts negative karma/energy/mojo whatever you call it into the air. We do not want to antagonize the CW. We just want our show. Im gonna try to stay positive on this front... We can get enough attention w/o holding the CW ransom.

I agree with that; we don't want the CW to get the idea that a passionate fanbase is maybe not a good thing. We can only lose. Better to hit him with all the positives. Tell him that a third and forth season would see an even greater loyal fanbase, certainly increased ratings, etc. Look at the example of Fringe again.

^ One thing is for sure..WE BEASTIES are making it hard for the CW to just cancel the show! MP and the NETWORK is 'seeing' how BEASTIES are fighting for the show..THEY HAVE NOTICED! Its something the CW has NEVER seen!
I believe now that we will get a 'final' short order 6 or 13 episode 3rd season to tie lose ends and give BEASTIES a proper ending to the series!

I'm thinking to rewatch during this crazy hiatus!! you described the show so right, about family, romance and the transcendence of the human heart... that was a GREAT show that I recommend to everyone!!! Crossing Fingers for Mr. Pedowitz keeping our little niche intact

yes they do, but i do not think TTP or Starcrossed have as much of an international market as BATB does cause they are newer shows. The starcrossed for sure does not, but I dont think TTP is as popular abroad as BATB is either...but this is just my impression, if anyone has numbers and countries sold to etc let me know. the thing that worries me about TTP and yesterdays ratings is that its last episode on a wednesday had its lowest ratings at 1.22 million viewers (and that was not a repeat, it was an original episode) and it only fell a bit to 1.17 viewers this week on monday with a very weak lead in. so this means in my eyes those viewers the 1.17 million are probably the loyal, regular ones who dont watch just because it airs after arrow. on a monday BATB has on average 800k viewers (sometimes a bit less and sometimes a bit more). this 350k difference how important is it for the cw? the reason they moved it ot Monday is to see if the ratings would fall further and they have not really fallen, not yet anyway. clearly the fact that they have not fallen significantly is to their advantage. BATB has the advantage of better ( i think) international sales, better online viewings (i am sure), more episodes but still is the lowest rated cw show. TTP has more viewers for now and performs better than some other cw shows but still not high numbers...i guess we will find out today we will find out what happens with the 100, though I think a show always or nearly always has high ratings in the first 4 or so episodes (if not more) with a strong lead in (arrow in this case). i guess for us a 0.6 for a first episode after arrow would not be bad, provided the numbers fall after episode 2 or 3 to 0.5 or less... lets see...hopefully it wont do a 0.7 or more! Do we know if last monday some of the strong competitors (sleepy hollow, the voice, etc...) weren't on TV? could it be so? Sleepy hollow is not back yet from its hiatus.

If BATB weren't making them MONEY at least overseas it wouldn't have had a second season. Of course. And Ford Motor wouldn't be a sponsor if it didn't make sense because a) there are many other places to go, and b) those people definitely are not dumb. They can read ratings numbers too - or hire PhD's to read to them. Despite the title of this thread, we know it is just way more complicated than a simple view of ratings numbers. Reminds me of a science fiction story (I think by Sturgeon) where the forecasting models had advanced to such a point they only had to ask one person who was going to be the next President. They could save the cost of elections. So on election day, the entire world press corp shows up on the doorstep of this guy in Springfield, Illinois and asks him the big question. I don't remember any more but it was a satire. Look at the campaign for Season 2. Everywhere I look people credit Beasties for that win. Why wasn't it just Nielsen Ratings? I think the fear I see expressed in this thread is we are afraid it will simply be the Nielsen Ratings. Somewhere here @socmom said she had never been so addicted to a show or ever joined a forum. I'm the same but worse; I've never even seen more than one episode of these other shows. They bore me; they have no heart. I only watch one show right now. I would never have signed on to a fan forum much less Twitter and Facebook, etc. My one disappointment for other shows this season is Josh Wyman's Almost Human because I hoped to see some of the heart that Fringe had. So far, not yet. These people should know that the special effects and mythology are only the background for real people, characters who become so real, when they bleed, we bleed, when they fall in love, we fall in love.Surely, network execs understand these things too. Their subject is audiences - us. They've listened before; they'll listen again. One more thing: Mr. Pedowitz says he is "happy with creative". Even WE don't say that. Maybe that's a coded message to us. Don't give up the faith. There has to be a place for Beauty and the Beast (and Beasties) in this crazy world. The magic word - heart. That is something A LOT of series out there don't have. Again, i love your description of our Batb

I used to only vote for batb, but now i also "un-vote" the rest. and some even drop a few places due to that. desperate time, desperate measure. as for the 100, i haven't watch it so i won't say much. i just hope it won't pull a "Reign". I remembered how most of us say it won't even last a season….

Why would you have Agents of Shield there when it has already been renewed!!! They must make these votes about only shows that are in need of saving and let those compete instead splitting votes with shows that are already safe.
