I'm really amazed of the success of Reign... HOD will probably renew only for syndication purposes so we are up against TP, Carrie Diaries, The 100 and Star crossed... Yes no surprises I recently told um anapi -season3baby :) of the early renewals for all mentioned ..I just found out about Reign um early early this morning but I hadn't checked my emails. Currently I'm out Job searching ..So I can't fully comment but I agree with Savana only 1 show left to fill the schedule. .HOD will be renewed for its syndication purposes.

Not surprised about the early renewals. We all knew those shows were a lock, w/ the exception being Reign. But Reign has some good momentum and it is coowned by CBS, so that is a benefit for renewal most of the time. On the plus side, it doesn't need to win Eonline's saveoneshow campaign, so hopefully BATB can win that one which should impress the CW brass. I actually do watch Reign and I like it. Its different from BATB, but its good. I think it has a nice feel to it. There is also still a lot of story to tell and so far the character portrayals have been as interesting as the plot. Its a decent show. In terms of the other shows. I think HOD has an edge up being so close to syndication and being completely different from every other show on the network. The bad part about it is that is has run its self into the ground as well plot wise. They started off the show with 1 love triangle and have now done so many romantic do-si-dos that it is hard to figure out who you really want together. I think there is only 1 season left in that show which lines it up well for syndication, but maybe they can just do a short order. I dont think it has a full season worth of stories to tell. I think they are putting it on Friday to see how it does there. It probably doesnt need to thrive at this point, just not do worse on its new night. It has to outperform Carrie Diaries, but from what I've read about that show it has been DOA for renewal. But we shall see... I just dont think the view is nice for those who like Carrie Diaries, sorry to those who like it. I do watch TTP sometimes and its not bad, but it is not great either. I think it might lose a lot of its audience once it loses its Arrow lead in. They have just introduced some interesting backstory, but at some point I wonder if they have the foundation to move forward for multiple seasons. It just doesnt seem like something people would want to watch multiple times on a site like netflix or buy the DVDs. Once they reveal their big secrets or tricks you're not really surprised. It just doesnt stir up the emotional excitement that you feel w/ BATB or the action that you see w/ ARROW. I think it will have to gain audience to keep itself on next year's list. I also think that if its audience drops, then it will be at the same ##s as some of BATB, but without the rabid fanbase. IMO its position is shakier than BATB, but that may be wishful thinking. I just think the show can't carry the new shows, and I dont think the new shows will carry it. The 100 IMO looks scary, it also looks like it will either do fabulous or be an epic fail. There does not seem to be a middle ground for this show, so it will be interesting to see how the audience gravitates to or avoids it. It seems like a cross between avatar and hunger games and im not sure that will make a good blend. Its sorta like when lost no pun intend lost its way in the later seasons. I know I have no intention of seeing it, but I am only 1 person. Star-Crossed has some potential to compete w/ BATB as it has a similar cross-species, destined love theme with sorta twilight feel to it from the previews. So if the CW was looking at audience, it might perceive these shows as having a similar audience. That is why in my mind BATB has to differentiate itself a bit from being just a star-crossed love story. It needs to broaden its appeal. It needs to find its niche in the CW players, just like reign has and nikita did for multiple seasons. Both of these shows have something different to offer which make them more appealing. I think now that Nikita is gone ( ), BATB needs to perhaps capture onto some of their demographic, which is why the mr/mrs smith angle the writers keep on talking about seems to be a good strategy. Nikita was a great show. There was epic love, intrigue, revenge, backstory and action. The characters were also similar age groups as the BATB group. I know personally I cannot really watch a show that takes place in high school. I can really only watch that age group now if its post-apocalyptic setting. Maybe I am not the ideal CW demographic, but I watch their network so maybe they need to stop catering to the youngest audience if it is going to lose faithful network watchers. I think they need to diversify some of their target audiences. Make BATB less teenage and a little more age-appropriate considering the characters. Nikita nicely blended the romance and the drama without resorting to triangles. I think if BATB would consider selling themselves a little more like Nikita to the powers that be they might be able to convince the CW brass. I think the key to renewal is making the CW/CBS understand that yes BATB is amazing & has an awesome fandom, but that it also has potential to grow. It needs to be given another chance to shine without turning off the core audience. I think in their desire to grow their audience this season, the writers forgot that you cant forget about your core audience. You can dance with whoever you want, but just remember the one that brought you there. I think the writers forgot that you can make the audience and characters grow without resorting to cheap tricks and weak plot devices (cough... tori, triangles .. cough). Now that they got those sophomore mistakes out of their system maybe they can focus back on making some good storyline. Im not a network producer (although it does seem a lot more fun than my job) but I dont think if a was building a line-up I would want to have the same type of show on every night. I would want a diverse team. Just like if I was building a sports team, I would want a bunch of speciality & all-around players. A team made of all one type of player will likely not go well. If you think about arrow & flash they are the same type of show, as is the originals & TVD, reign & supernatural (SPN) have their own distinct flavor. I think BATB needs to make its case that it can add something to the team that the other contenders cannot add. Perhaps if it was matched with a show like Reign or SPN it could appeal to those audiences and intrigue them to watch both shows. I watch both HOD & BATB, but to be honest I did not like them on the same day - they just had a completely different flavors that I dont think blended well. I think BATB needs to a better match than HOD. I think it can add some drama, romance & sci-fi/fantasy to the CW without being too much in one category which makes it more versatile than the other shows looking for renewal, the BATB should demonstrate this to the CW. Of course, it also depends on what they have in production for new shows. Beyond Flash, I have not heard of anything specific. So that may also through a wrench into the mix. TTP and the mid season replacements seem like cheaper versions of other shows, which might influence the CW. But I dont think we should give up faith yet. The beasties are pretty strong group, we do have the power to influence their decisions. Like I said in another post I would love to see a full season, but even an abbreviated 13-16 episode season might be our best option for renewal. And not a horrible option. If you look at a lot of cable shows they rock a 13-16 season because the plots are all rock solid w/ awesome acting and there is none of that obnoxious plot meandering to stretch out a season. They just get down to the nitty gritty. Its sad to have to wait so long for them to come around, but by the time they do you're for the story & characters. That being said, I think we can take TTP once it loses the protection of the ARROW.
