This has been on my mind and I am curious if anyone else has similar thoughts or maybe I am just crazy, but maybe the CW is happy with the numbers that BATB is generating. Or at least for a Monday night. Especially when later viewing and online viewing are factored in. Promotion costs money and thus the need for higher ratings. Maybe just maybe BATB is profitable, not sure how expensive it is to make, (cheaper than REIGN or TVD or even Arrow I am guessing). Also it has been sold internationally to quite a few markets and it is fairly successful in Canada so maybe just letting it do it's thing and not spending money on promotion makes the show profitable enough to keep it? Anyone agree with me or am I just really looking for a glass half full here.

savana asked on the #5 ratings thread whether watching shows On Demand (for Comcast/Xfinity customers) helps. I've been curious about the same, so I looked it up. Bottom line is that networks are realizing that the Nielsen system is antiquated and are starting to look at other types of data, so yes, it does help! Article here: mynorthwest.com/75/639320/Ondemand-DVRs-changing-the-TV-ratings-gameI watch both online and On Demand, figuring if one is good then both are even better.

I think we ALL know the reason for the ratings; some of the issues having been continually vented on this thread! I don't blame you guys, its frustrating! I would think BY NOW CW definitely HAVE to be aware of the LACK of promotion for BATB! I mean I'M sure that beasties have tweeted, commented on you tube etc..AND it seems they IGNORE it. You'd think with the slip in ratings, they'd try to promote it even more! Even if its just for THEIR OWN profits sake!! So I'm not sure how to make sense of it...what they been doing.. It almost feels like they just aired s2 to shut us beasties up but they don't think highly of it since i can't really believe its an accident they don't promote it as much as others. Not to mention the schedule change grr! Im wondering though do you think the ratings for watching it online gone higher than last year? So you think adding up the tv ratings and net watching, iTunes would make it a higher rating than last year? Or the tv rating being lower, youd assume the rest have gone down in ratings too? If this forum had anything to go by, i think we gained quite a number of new beasties than last year!

Austin Basis @austinbasis 6h @mamabeastie doryevans L+7 doesn't count as much towards ad revenue as L+SD & L+3. Online/streaming will affect ratings more in Fall 2014

ok so tomorrow people went down in viewers this week from 1.5 to 1.3 million - which is still much better than beauty but not great for the slot it is in. having said that, i do think now it will stabilise and keep getting these types of numbers every week from now on.

Over at The CW, “The Vampire Diaries” lost steam, as expected, with a 1.6/ 3 (#5) at 8 p.m. down by 11 percent from the 1.8/ 3 one week earlier. And episode three of lead-out period drama “Reign” dropped another one-tenth of a rating point to a 1.3/ 2 at 9 p.m. (#5), which last Thursday dipped from lead-in “The Vampire Diaries” by 38 percent among adults 18-49 (1.3/ 4 to 0.8/ 2). Three-week overnight track for “Reign”: 1.5/ 2 – 1.4/ 2 – 1.3/ 2. Of the three new CW dramas this fall, “The Originals,” no doubt, stands the greatest chance of a full-season renewal. Least likely to survive past this season is “Reign. Taken from: SpoilerTV www.spoilertv.com/2013/11/ratings-news-1st-november-2013.html#ixzz2jPpc9GZ3 Follow us: @spoilertv on Twitter reign dropped indeed, but only a little bit still stayed at 0.6 and considering it was haloween yesterday, it did ok....
