The fact is the viewership for BATB has increased the last two weeks. We need to hold the 0.6, or better get/hold 0.7 when it returns. I do suspect sometimes TVbytheNumbers posts stuff to get lots of comments. I think we have a little momentum here and just need to really build on it and pick up some steam.

What??!!! I hope it doesn't get cancelled. Like it's been said it's the fourth most watch show. TCD is performing poorly it just baffles me that they would consider renewing that and cancelling BatB? UGH! The only real reason I can see them considering keeping it is because the CW really has no teen drama right now and TCD is. 90210 is most likely to be cancelled and well the CW need a teen drama. I hope the CW changes their mind though. How high was TSC on the most watched shows for the CW last year? I didn't watch it but I heard it had moderate ratings and was quite popular and the CW still cancelled it. If it had the ratings BatB has or higher and was one of the most watched shows, then this unfortunately can only spell doom for BatB

I honestly have no idea how TVbythenumbers makes these decisions about tv series, more so since BATB is still the 4th highest rated series on the network yet still listed as likely to be canceled by them?

Here's how the shows ended up ranking ratings wise for the CW last year with lower rated Hart of Dixie and Nikita renewed over higher rated Circle which doesn't mean anything with regards to BATB this year, it just proves that you can't tell what the CW is going to do based on the Nielsen figures alone. tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/cw-2011-2012-ratings/Apparently last year at this time, TVBTN had Hart of Dixie as Likely Cancelled and was continually predicting last year that either or both of HOD and Nikita would be cancelled and look how wrong they were. And that's because the general public and these sites don't have access to the income and expenses for these shows. This is why I said don't get discouraged based when these various site's continually reclassify the show's status and don't go around posting things like OMG, BATB is going to be cancelled. That doesn't encourage new viewers to want to tune in or less dedicated ones to stick around.

Thanks Pippin. It seems like both GG and SN were lower rated than the TSC too but SN has a very large fan base and well GG was just renewed for it's final season. Crossing my fingers that BatB gets renewed also since it seems it's not expensive to produce and it has a large fanbase too.

I'm with you pippin ... a column that is based on the numbers may predict that ... I get it. We were downgraded but technically still gained ... but what if a respected columnist writes about our storyline now and the momentum we have gained? Would we feel better? Of course ... I think we have to remain focused on the positives and keep working ... our show has universal appeal and will continue to grow ... We have no idea what the network is thinking .... but hopefully they are listening.

Not to be a barer of more bad news, but BATB right now on itunes for it's season pass isn't doing that great. Both TCD and Hart of Dixie are ranking higher, even an episode of Hart of Dixie that aired on Tuesday is doing better than Tough Love.
This shouldn't be happening... more so since online activities and viewership for BATB is a lot bigger. Then again, could also mean a lot BATB fans are just not purchasing BATB on itunes... just because they don't feel the need to.
Which can be a dangerous behavior!!

Yes, yes, yes-do not spread the negativity. If we come back holding the 0.6 or better yet a 0.7 what are they going to do. Change it again? Of course. TSC was an expensive show to produce. You have to bring in a certain demo if you are going to cost a certain amount. I think CW put money behind Arrow but it delivers the demo to pay for itself. TSC didn't. Also, my husband was a fan of TSC but if you didn't watch from the beginning you were lost. BATB is not nearly as expensive, and is not a complicated mythology. We have had a beautifully shot first kiss that has many youtube videos being shared, a hot promo that lets viewers know it is a game changer. These are big pluses. In the next two weeks I am going to send questions to TVGuide and Kristen about Sendhil joining. If you see someone asking if he is really going to be naked in his first scene. It is me!! I encourage you to ask questions too. We have been underestimated before. I am not a rose colored glasses idiot but the biggest danger we have is spreading a negative vibe. We will not get the new viewers if we act like we will be cancelled. If TVBTN bothers you stop looking at the postings. There are clearly a lot of angry bullies that sit waiting to insult people. Comments on TVBTN represents a pretty creepy slice of humanity if you ask me. What were the odds we would win PCA? Come on we can do this, but we can't be a scared little army. This is a great show, the viewership is on an uptrend, the plot just got a whole lot hotter. Thankfully most of the public doesn't pay attention to TVBTN. Let's work to get/keep the ratings up so the dialog changes from if we get a season two to when we do what plot lines we would like to see.

We are taking advantage of the Oscars tonight by promoting BeautyandtheBeast using one of the feeds. We need to get in every #Oscars feed and promote #BeautyandtheBeast with a fanvid e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=ljPQD9. Lets do this!

It seems to me that the CW does make decisions based on more than just the Nielsen ratings. They are a smaller network and have a little more freedom to do that. I hope that they take into account the fan base, online popularity, online viewing and online purchases, as well as potential for growth. This storyline has improved so much since the pilot. When I rewatch the first few episodes, it feels like a different show. There is so much potential for growth with BATB.
I keep up with the ratings and BATB is consistently in the fourth spot for the CW. I understand how they would renew Nikita - they want syndication. Some people thought (probably not so much anymore) that 90210 might get a short final season. Their ratings are pretty abysmal, though. I'm not sure whether the CW can afford to do that.
However, I'm not sure why Hart of Dixie AND Carrie Diaries are both on the bubble, whereas BATB is a likely cancellation. TCD has performed consistently lower than BATB since it started and HOD hasn't been better than BATB...it usually falls just short. People keep talking about HOD and syndication, but it is only one season farther along than BATB. It still needs 4+ seasons (in total) to get syndicated.
What is TVBTN basing their "likely to be cancelled" ruling off of? BATB following TVD? As far as I'm concerned, TVD is a totally different show than BATB and the lead in doesn't necessarily mean much. Channels can be changed. BATB's time slot is a tricky one as well...Grey's, AI?
I hope that CW execs take EVERYTHING into account before they make their final cancellation decisions. Everyone compares BATB to the Secret Circle. I never watched it and had never heard of it until I started watching BATB this year. I can't make any comparisons (nor do I want to) but I think people need to stop making these connections.
BATB is filmed in Canada and would have cheaper production costs. I also know that we have Canadian tax credits for shows that film here. I'm not sure how much that would apply to BATB, but filming up here is definitely a positive. As well, it seems to be doing quite well with online viewing and sales. Our overseas Beasties are doing their part as well and BATB is being picked up in many places. Do ratings in other countries matter? Also, while a PCA and other awards don't guarantee anything, it is another plus on our side. If we are up against another show for renewal with identical ratings and we have the buzz and the awards and they don't...well, that bodes well for BATB.
I guess it comes down to time. We are not privy to all of the numbers and info the CW has. On the plus side, neither are the online columns. Even if we were privy to all of this info, we have no idea what the execs are thinking. They might really love BATB and want to give it another chance. They've done it before. I read somewhere that one of the first things Pedowski did when he took over the CW was to order the pilot for BATB. He saw something in this show. Just as we have. Perhaps he's a Beastie at heart, too.
We have to support BATB as much as we can and hope for the best. These columns can say what they want. And, they change them all the time. We've been up and down on this roller coaster before. Many times.
We are going into a hiatus with a smokin' hot kiss behind us. There is time for new viewers to see that and want to catch up on previous episodes. As well, the promo for 1.15 is on fire...and has another hot kiss (Vincent in a tux, anyone? It worked for Bridesmaid UP!) and just enough of a glimpse of a bedroom scene to make us all crazy!!!! We also have some great guest stars coming up (Sendhil Ramamurthy and Edi Gathegi...perhaps we will get some Twihards on board!!!).
As well, we actually rose in ratings and are on a bit of an upswing after the ex-arc and Valentine's Day. The exact same thing happened before Christmas. Ep 1.8 was down and then rose with 1.9 (Bridesmaid Up!). The next episode six weeks later was way up! This looks promising for us again. 1.13 was down (because of Alex and V-Day) and 1.14 has risen again, even without people being sure that there would be a kiss. Well, we've had it now and the next promo shows another one!
Stay positive. Keep your comments positive and hopeful. The network wants to see us behind the show and behind them. Let's give them that.
