This may seem like an odd discussion thread but I've been wondering a few things about the behind the scenes of the tranquilizer shots and such. First of all, it drives me crazy how forceful everyone is injected. I get that it makes things more dramatic but is it really necessary? Are the actors really being injected in the long shots of scenes, like Vincent in Don't Die on Me? In addition, how do they do the tranquilizer darts? Computerized?

Crickets. I tweeted the question to Austin and nothing from him as well. It's either a heavily guarded secret or it is that odd.

You know, I just never thought about it. But you DO realize that the tranquilizer guns, shots/arrows and needle injections were ever-present through all FOUR seasons on a regular basis. I mean, we see Vincent being injected in the Pilot, as the tear runs down his face. Then you see JT with the tranq gun fairly early on in S1 (episode 7, I believe). And HOW many times is it referenced that when dealing with Vincent, you might need said tranq gun. (And Vincent's "you shot me. AGAIN." when Cat nails him with the tranq gun before going off with Tori in 209.)
So there really SHOULD have been a Props DVD extra on the tranq guns and needles involved in BATB and how they made the scenes work. After all, what other props were as important to BATB?
(And I have always wondered--did the tranq gun used by Austin's JT actually shoot anything, or was it solely a hand-held prop with tech adding the effects in later?)
