And sadly, I really could care less about the case during most of this episode. (Although when they realize they have crashed a Pimps and Hoes party, and are in the equivalent of a brothel, you have to appreciate the laughs. By the end, I do feel for Daphne. Because where does this leave her now? Her Prince Charming was killed trying to save her. I want to hope that she qualifies for Witness Protection and would have a home and job provided to her. ESPECIALLY if one of the DA's was involved in renting hookers.)
And I DO wonder if anything would have ever happened between Evan and Catherine had Vincent NOT come along when he did. In Season 5, we see that Vincent assumed they WOULD have married. I wonder. Cat just seemed to me to want a failsafe against a broken heart, not a real relationship. Who knows?

And JT having a secret girlfriend!!! And trying to keep it from Vincent!
(LOVE JT's one liner about Brooklyn Bridge!)
"What did she do now?"--Hey, wait a minute JT, that was VINCENT blowing her off JT. And based on YOUR advice.
But this is the FIRST time that JT gives his "blessing" to Vincent to pursue Catherine! And I LOVE the look on Vincent's face when he does.
Ummm, I don't mind that lime dress on Catherine. But I love how Tess and Brook use the dress time to gossip with Cat. And Cat describes Evan as "serial dating." But Brook comes across as nice in this episode. I wonder if she was truly genuine. I would like to believe so, but with Muirfield's policy of placing "dates" in the line of fire of people connected to VinCat, I can't help but wonder. The only other time post-wedding that we hear about Brook is the comment that Heather spent a lot of time with her after Daddy Chandler's death.
And why does the artist just paint blob canvases? You would THINK that for the cover, they would actually put real potential works of art up on the gallery walls! And the fact that paintings go for different "amounts?" This does not sound like very good planning--I mean, the house of cards comes down pretty quickly with this murder. But there were always holes in the cases since they were designed chiefly to give Cat "inspiration" into her own life.
(And the scuzzy DA that was taking home hookers. Guess that is how Marco assumed his business would never be prosecuted!)

I'm not sure what to think about Daddy Chandler and his daughter's relationship in this one, particularly as we now know that Thomas was NOT Cat's birth father. You would think the father WOULD want his daughter to do everything to protect him.

Um, Vincent, what if Cat wasn't fully dressed? Really going to sneak up on her in the bathroom? And claim you were "just in the neighborhood?"
At least this series' Vincent will actually come IN to Cat's apartment--the original Vincent would never risk crossing that line until he literally lost his mind!
But I love the way Vincent is clearly checking Cat out and, as always, loves her all "girly" and dressed up. And doesn't buy that she is JUST going on a case dressed like that! And Cat assuming that Vincent is trying to "let her down easy." And Vincent looks SO DEVASTATED that Cat is seemingly ending it before it begins. And saying they should stick to cases. And then EVAN knocks on the door. And she calls him "her date." She couldn't wound Vincent more at that point, all while not meaning to. AND THAT is so SYMBOLIC of so much of VinCat's relationship in S1 and S2--their failure to communicate. Each wants the same thing, but each thinks the other assumes the relationship is more trouble than it is worth. They mirror the same problem in both S1 and S2.
And Evan DOES make it clear that he is blatantly interested in Cat.
LOVE the Chinese lanterns outside Cat's apartment windows. AND Vincent's eyes glowing bright YELLOW when he sees Cat leave with Evan!
BUSTED JT!! "Coffee or Tea?"

And Vincent goes all the way to the "old neighborhood" to help Catherine. Risking all those memories. And potential danger. Just to earn a chance to see Cat by helping her on her case. (And because he inwardly realizes that he is the source of her pain.) But the newspaper stand --how much of life has passed by while Vincent was "underground.")
And Vincent just gets that address to the studio just by that one newspaper stand. And looks like his father. So sad. And you realize that the parents died believing all three of their sons were dead.
And Evan liking the girls! DEFINITELY a player.
And I LOVE how Cat, Evan and Tess get to individually realize that they are in a brothel! Marco, the pimp! You are paying for the woman, not the painting.

Like how Cat just naturally knows how to open Daphne up. But she DOES give Daphne the info that Nicholas really DID love her and applied for an apartment in which to live with her. Makes you wonder why Daphne would have believed a woman with an interest in keeping her subservient versus the man of her dreams.
And Evan leaning into Cat JUST when Vincent shows up. And Vincent just waits around for Cat to join him, giving Evan ample opportunity to see him.
And Cat and Vincent in the Artist's Studio. And Vincent talking how the artist and his model MIGHT have just started as a career-opportunity, but that they became "MORE." And I love how Catherine's question is about WHY he pushed her away. And Vincent admitting that it was because he didn't feel "worthy." And Cat getting how Vincent is talking about them as well.
And Cat, of course, puts together the pieces and arrives at the exact right time.

And Daphne putting together the pieces before Cat! WHY did Daphne believe Lauren? Sigh.
And Daphne realizing that Lauren actually killed Nicholas. Seriously, Lauren then bates Daphne? I guess she would have preferred death to prison?
And Evan calling Cat out on leaving with Vincent. And trying to ask Cat out again. But Cat now KNOWS Vincent is really interested, so she is not tempted.
And Cat going to make things right with Brook. Because she realizes the problem with making "assumptions." But Brook has a point about not having been honest--but how do you begin THAT conversation?
And Cat admitting that she waited up "all night" for Vincent. Because she wanted so much to spend time with him. And Cat spelling out to him that he is NOT a burden but is who she WANTS to spend time with. And Vincent ADMITTING that he "doesn't know how to do this." He has lost so much and can't even remember who he used to be. And Cat admitting she wanted him to be jealous of Evan. And Vincent worried that who he is will keep them apart. And Cat pointing out that it is his WHOLE CHARACTER and being that makes her want to be with him.
AND then we see Vincent waking up, covered in blood. You know, technically, when this episode originally aired, you could actually wonder if maybe Vincent kept Cat from leaving? Did the writers actually mean it to be a "cliffhanger," with the viewer wondering if Cat could have been a victim?
So in this episode, it is CLARIFIED that Vincent and Catherine BOTH want "more" from their relationship. But Vincent still isn't sure how this can happen. AND he hasn't even told Cat about the "fugue" episodes yet. So clearly, lots to overcome. BUT they both are on the same page, at least at this point.

I love the lengths that Vincent goes to in this episode to try to earn his place in Cat's world, even if he can't date her. Yet he clearly wants to be with her more than anything. But has NO IDEA how to handle his feelings. Which are only complicated by the fugue states, which apparently haven't knowingly happened before. So the viewer is left with the worry that Vincent's beast is almost like The Incredible Hulk---Vincent can't remember what he has done as a beast when he wakes up. You don't know if it is almost two different individuals/personalities or what. And if Cat just MIGHT be the cause, since Vincent seemingly hasn't experienced this before.

This episode made it pretty clear that both V and Cat wanted a relationship but didn't know how to have one. I felt really bad for V in this episode when he said" I am what make everything impossible". Loved it when Cat told him that who he was, made it worthy. That studio scene is in my top ten favourite scene. Vincent's indirect love confession was so romantic and sad.

I'm off to watch the season finale of another show I like. Next week, then? Or is this not working? I wish more could participate.

I love it how Cat was so excited about going on a camping trip with Vincent. I loved the jacket she was wearing. V looks so hot in this episode. Poor JT. V roughed him pretty badly.

Cat had more trust in Vincent than he had about himself. The way they were looking at each other was so romantic. This episode is so sad. Poor V. The last scene broke both Cat and my heart.
