Although it's funny when JT says, "Makeup? Now really?" it shows he has a lot to learn about women and Cat in particular.

That agent was GOOD at correctly figuring out what Cat's and Vincent's reactions would be initially. He had figured out Cat would be desperate for more info on her mother and vulnerable to Vincent's past crimes.
Vincent telling JT. DEFINITELY POOR JT. And JT was worried about Cat, but he can't help but distrust that they let her go. AND JT uses the argument that Cat might be safe if they run.
But Vincent WON'T run if Cat could be in danger.
That is the thing---prior to this episode, Vincent and Cat have agreed to work together on cases. Neither has stated that he/she wants a relationship more than that. And they have trusted one another prior to this. But Vincent KNOWS that Muirfield would NOT just let Cat go--so she is withholding something from him. Which Vincent figures out when Cat accuses him of going after Muirfield to kill.
The bar incident. Vincent loses it always when someone is victimizing women or others that can't protect themselves from predators. But CAT PERCEIVING HIM as a potential predator obviously about kills Vincent. ---THAT is when Vincent basically decides to turn himself in. IF CAT can't trust him, then he worries he MIGHT just be that monster. OR that Muirfield will come after her if she refuses. AND HE DOESN'T WANT TO just run around lose without Cat or if she might be at risk. SO PROTECTING CAT (and even JT) becomes his top priority over himself. That really is an act of LOVE to do what Vincent does. To be willing to sacrifice himself completely to torture and worse in order to protect her.

The fact that rich woman is so willing to basically crush her daughter in order to get money by marrying her daughter off to a rich man.
But Cat so easily able to identify with the girl that has the relationship with the troubled guy. DOES show that Cat has inwardly been considering Vincent for MORE than just a case partner. I DO LOVE THAT CAT is so easily able to relate---SHE DOES want more from Vincent, even if she won't admit that to herself yet.
I LOVE the JT and Cat interaction in this episode--JT automatically assumes the worst about Cat. And his apology--to "Forget" the last conversation. And JT heartbreakingly realizing that Vincent is turning himself in.

As gruesome as this scene was, it was a bonding experience for the 3 of them.

I LOVE LOVE Cat and JT's working together in this episode!
And Vincent's TERMS with Muirfield--that they can't touch Catherine. And Vincent makes sure that Cat will be safe and that Muirfield knows that.
I really DO wonder what that agent would have done with Vincent. HE SAYS that they have "something new"--which maybe what Bob Reynolds will later use. I get the feeling that THIS agent had a "plan" for Vincent since he had NOT reported to Muirfield about Vincent. So my THEORY has always been that this agent was working with Bob.

I love this baseball scene even if it's cheesy that Cat hit the homerun to win the game. I also love the song!

Yay! Another great fire escape scene. I love how honest they are with each other. Yet, they still talk around what they exactly are to each other!

I just always assumed he was saying whatever he could just to get Vincent into his custody. I expected them to maybe do some testing but ultimately killing him.

After this, Cat will no longer be naive about what Muirfield is capable of.

I just lost the best post due to my computer freezing! Hate that!
But I wish that we COULD have known what that particular agent was planning! He goes to great care to get Vincent to come WILLINGLY with them--even with the chains being lose enough. HE WANTS Vincent to trust him. That is why I believe that he wanted to USE Vincent for some particular mission. After all, he could have just tried to shoot Vincent on sight once he arrived or was in chains.
And the agent CONFIRMS that he did NOT tell Muirfield about Catherine (OR his plan). The reason for that must have been that he had plans on his own to use Vincent. He said that they had some new thing for Vincent. Which Bob Reynolds later uses to "upgrade" Vincent.

For Cat, prior to this, Muirfield had been "tracking" her mother. She had NO IDEA as to just WHY they would be tracking her mother. Cat had never even KNOWN that her mother worked for Muirfield prior to this.
This episode really contains several hidden bombshells in it. The episode presents the "turning point" where Cat has to finally decide to trust Vincent OR to walk away from Vincent. AND SHE CHOOSES HIM, despite loosing out on critical information regarding her mother.
And Cat and Vincent basically inwardly acknowledge in this episode that they are "more" than just case partners. Vincent admits to actually seeing "new things possible" for himself. For the first time in so long, life has POTENTIAL for him, because CAT IS IN HIS LIFE. So Vincent is admitting that he WANTS more with Cat in that last fire escape scene.
And Cat clearly wants to go down that road as well. She found she was willing to do anything, even kill, to protect Vincent.

But the episode is memorable for the JT and Cat interaction as well. They FINALLY have to trust one another--and they ARE able to work well together. And JT sees that despite being tortured by Muirfield, Cat WILL stand up for Vincent and protect him. Even if she has to cross a line she probably NEVER envisioned crossing!
So there is this turning point for all 3 of our major characters. JT really trusts Cat from here on out and gets that the two are MUTUALLY BOUND to one another! There is this major shift in bonding and the relationships from this episode forward.
(BUT I also LOVE LOVE how the precinct characters all "dance" around when Cat gets the homerun! This is such a light moment for an otherwise heavy episode! So funny. So you see bonding on all sides.)
And that IS another point--Cat DOES still have so much to risk or lose by siding with Vincent. They now KNOW that Muirfield knows Vincent is alive, even if that particular "cell" never reported in about Cat.
And Vincent having to deal with the "reality" that Cat and JT are damaged by a war with Muirfield, in having to hide and be separated from people they love and having to commit crimes and experience isolation. But Cat is now moving forward with Vincent, and it is clearly towards MORE than just "working" together.

There really is more to this particular episode than one first realizes. The idea that Trust can so easily be won or lost, especially when someone has a past.
This was fun PINKDAISIES. I, too, have to go and will plan to comment more on this episode tomorrow!
