@luna76 - I also agree with your point that maybe the TPTB are just catering to the fans; since the vast majority are females and are Jay/Vincent fans.

Sometimes there is no doing the right thing with stories. If the characters have their own separate archs like what happened with castle in the final season there will be complaints that the 2 leads should work together. And sometimes if you put them together there will be some who think there should be separate archs for the characters. I agree with this too. But we could still have VinCat working together in a story arc that revolves around Catherine, rather than always a beast focused plot line. Just say'n. Nevertheless, I'm really enjoying this season. I've accepted and can live with the fact that Beast themes dominate this show.

I think season 1 had more independent story lines. They could have incorporated some of that in the current season.

I can so understand you, I felt the same way and had tears in my eyes when I watched them kiss as if they were no tomorrow. Agree completely about JT and T being just friends.

Something I'd like to pick up on is the song in the final scene: Shut Us Down by Freddie Dickson. As well as being a great song on it's own, I really think the lyrics relate to VinCat and their current situation/predicament so well:
"If only we could start again, I would find a way, to never have to give you up, I know it all depends, if you still feel the same, is your love still strong enough?"
I'm not entirely sure who would have made this choice, whether it be HiTower or someone else, but I thought this was a really appropriate song to a very strong end of the episode. Just wanted to point it out because I really liked it lol!

In previous seasons all the greates VinCat moments were subtitled by great songs. I don't mention only "Wherever you will go" that is one of my favorite (in its original version of The Calling) and was used twice in two strong VinCat moments (the first ball in Bridesmade up and in the shower scene in Beast is the New black), but even songs like "Find my way back" or "Guiding light" are well sorted and placed. I don't remember a song from S3 and this is the first I've really noticed in S4... it's a pity because a good song could empathize the moment and convey feelings

Hitower scores the musical (instrumental) background soundtracks. Here's an example of another song Dondrea wanted to use in S4, but didn't perhaps due to the expense of using a Prince song. It kind of hints at what might be in store for VinCat.

Based on the content of this episode, I have to agree with Dan as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying this season, far more than last season. My only point of contention IS that Cat HAS completely given up her own career. When I first heard that Catherine was going to work for DHS this season, I was thrilled, thinking that someone valued the work she did on cases. But again, when HAS she had time to seriously work on cases since Season 1? Cat admitted as much in the beginning of S2 where she had completely thrown over her extended caseload onto Tess while looking for a missing Vincent. At least in S2, however, the "beast" cases often DID become actual cases, and the resolution of said cases often depended on Cat. By the end of S2, Cat was suspended from the NYPD and having to help Vincent full-time. While she was finally reinstated and ACTUALLY WORKING on cases at the beginning of S3, that didn't last. So yeah, Cat's life has more or less been on hold due to Beast issues. And she only took the DHS job to help Vincent, in my opinion, rather than it being a real life-changing career move. And again, she was hired due to beast issues in order to cover-up Vincent's involvement, which WAS a serious irritation for me. TESS is able to be promoted to a captain position because she HAS been able to keep her real day-job, more or less. So I actually may end up feeling for Tess in this episode, WHEN I finally get to see it. Because you CAN'T be half-in to all things beast. It is totally life-consuming, obviously, for Cat. I can see Tess needing to distance herself since it would never end. So a choice HAS to be made, and the consequences of a MULTI-YEAR cover-up are finally coming to the fore. Obviously, with this episode, we are meant to see that Cat HAS essentially lost her career at this point. She will have to do something else. And who would realistically hire her in her profession of choice, since her work record over the last four years would leave anyone in security or law enforcement reluctant to hire her. Sigh. Would have liked SOME special Cat storyline. Just wish we got a Season 3 do-over entirely, as I could appreciate S4 WITHOUT regret had S3 given us something Cat-centered. BUT it is what it is. I'm still loving this season, even if I wish certain things were different. Actually, I think there were a few Cat centric story-lines in Season 3, more so than in Season 4, especially the Chasing Ghosts episode, which centred on Cat's relationship with her mum and the the outburst at the bridal shower. Also the Cat's out of the Bag episode, where she decided not to go after Liam and all the other characters had to group together to get her back on board. I think Season 4 has had a lot of Beast titles but the action has focussed more on them as a couple. I agree with you and am loving Season 4 more than 3 as a result of this.

If the characters have their own separate archs like what happened with castle in the final season there will be complaints that the 2 leads should work together. And sometimes if you put them together there will be some who think there should be separate archs for the characters. The theme of Beauty and the Beast has always been that they are better together than apart, that they save each other. Rose you make a good point that not all relationships are equal. Vincent is the one with the genetically modified DNA and therefore, the most issues. He has saved Cat's life on many occasions and she has saved him from losing himself to his beast side. He is the victim of the story going back to Season 1. What happened to Cat, in losing her mother was traumatic, but she was able to rebuild a somewhat normal life out of that tragedy. Vincent's arc at that time was even worse. He was experimented on and left for dead. He had to give up all thoughts of a normal life. No job, no money no relationships (apart from JT) He was a dead man who was still walking around but only leading a half-life, hiding in shadows, FOR 10 YEARS. To me, it's not a huge surprise that Cat is the one who has to help Vincent the most. If you love someone, and they need your help, need to rely on you, lean on you, wouldn't you do it, at the drop of a hat? We all wanted more VinCat time in this season, and we've definitely got it, but more VinCat time will inevitably lead to less separate Cat or Vincent character development arcs. We can't have it both ways, especially as we are running out of episodes.

Really don't think I could cope with the show finishing like that. Still traumatized by the end of Prison Break and White Collar did me no favours either.
