Cute little fight-club outfits... KK still has it, eh? They could've kept the fight-club around a bit longer for that, don't you think? Or would that pose insurmountable problems? After all, the first rule about fight-club is... And just a question about JT's tenure. I thought once you get tenure, you can have grad students teach your classes and you can, well, hunt beasts... Am I wrong, or does JT's rejection of tenure make no sense at all? It would have given him a lot more time than being a professor. And, loved the Street Fighter reference... sly writers... bet KK got a grin outta that one. Good catch! I only caught that after you mentioned it. I felt the writing was better in this episode. Less exposition and more natural dialogue between the characters. The Fight Club plot was a bit ridiculous, but it was really fun and action oriented. However, the relationship interactions between the characters was better in this one for me, which is also why I liked it.

Austin is a guest on Afterbuzz TV's weekly BATB recap show for 403! Very interesting. At about 12 minutes in, Austin addresses the lack of AMP like romantic scenes that everyone has noticed. Basically saying that some writers and some actors prefer not to have those scenes anymore and with the original creators gone (Jennifer & Sherri) that things are different.

I love how Austin reacted to it. You could tell he was uncomfortable with the question and that he was trying to be or give the "politically correct" answer. It does make a lot of sense to what he is saying, but it is at time frustrating a little bit.

I felt Austin's reaction also supported Gillian Horvath's tweet, which implied things can happen BTS with actors that can affect certain elements of the script writing.

My favorite moment from this episode, Catherine turning in her badge.

Doesn't matter how many times I watch the episode that scene with Kristin and Nina makes me cry it's done so beautifully and I geunienly got the feeling that it was more if a goodbye to between Kristin and Nina knowing the show was ending, I could be wrong but that's the feeling I get from it.

I loved this episode for multiple, subtle reasons. Vincent RESPECTS Cat's choice to fight. He doesn't belittle her abilities or tell her she can't win, as Gabe would. And Cat wins that final battle ALL because she realizes the seeming threat to Vincent is going to slip through her fingers if she is not in a position to follow him. So she decides right in that moment that she WILL win that fight, no matter what. She has MOTIVATION to do so in order to save the man she loves and is determined to protect.
And Cat wants to protect her relationship with Tess as well. She is quick to add her praises for Tess and to show how much she VALUED her career and partnership with Tess. That MOMENT in the precinct when she hands in her badge---so much has changed for her AND Tess, both career-wise and relationship-wise. They MUST move forward with their lives, but they value the support base that EACH has in the other. BEAUTIFUL in the way it shows that change (and loss) WILL happen, but you have to remember to hold onto the foundation that came before. LOVED that!

Here is my opinion on the JT tenure thing, for what it is worth.
JT quit out of GUILT over his past actions, done unwittingly, that have helped contribute to others thinking it is possible to create beasts. His own research AND HIS ARTICLE, which WAS mentioned in this episode, got published regarding these DNA possibilities. It led him to Muirfield AND to recommend Vincent for their experiements, because he BELIEVED, based on his RESEARCH and PAPER that such DNA-manipulation would PROTECT his friend. And NOW, OTHERS INTEND TO FOLLOW on his OWN reseach, such as that grad student that JT wishes to DISCOURAGE. Because after seeing what playing God can do, JT is NO LONGER the scientist that he once was. Like Vanessa, he realizes the FULL implication to PEOPLE in following down this road. It all started with the SAME research for him. Which he wishes he had NEVER done.
SO that student made it HIT HOME for him. He DIDN'T want to promote another student advocating for the wonderful "possibilities" that manipulating DNA could give for the improved superhuman. And he would be REQUIRED to mentor/assist grads in pursuing their theses of this nature if he took tenure.
So JT does NOT take tenure due to moral reasons. He DOESN'T want to be involved, even accidentally, in human experimentation gone wrong anymore. Because he has seen TOO MANY scientists go down the SAME road, losing their ethics along the way (think Sam and what he saw happen to his OWN son--while trying to actually find a treatment for a disease). That student harping on about "it all being possible" from JT's own article and the blogger's assertions just made JT want OUT of it all.
(And if JT can just EXPLAIN the above to Tess, she WOULD understand. Particularly after what happened to Vanessa and even Evan, who was originally recruited by Muirfield BECAUSE of the research into the corrupted DNA.)
