SOMEONE find a Canadian Beastie STAT and make them talk!!!!!!!!! I'm DYING here! (I have spent over 30-something hours stuck in my office working all WEEKEND, and needs me some VinCat!)
Since we seem to be lacking Canadians (or they are sitting stunned, still horror-struck or mesmerized by what happened on their tv screen), we need an official techie out there who can find the Episode Link as quickly after the episode airs and REPORT in on a weekly basis.
(Or someone go take a 12 week vacation in Canada, making sure that his or her hotel has Showcase!)

Well if people didn't like the season opener, I imagine they will like this one even less. Seemed like a filler episode that was an odd combination of the lame S1 cases mixed with a little of the panicky, agitated V of S3, JTnT retreading the same ground, and the lighter, breezier VinCat. I guess some people might appreciate the jogging attire of the opening scene.

Okay friends and fellow beasties I have seen it - only once so far and very early in the morning over here - and I can give you what I remember of it.
We start out with VinCat jogging in the park and then Vincent gets distracted and starts to blurr ahead until Catherine screams at him to stop. He says that he got distracted and we get 'what were you thinking, you could get exposed' pep talk and Catherine decides to keep him out of the investigation to keep him calm. Vincent does not like that.
Somebody hacked into DHS computers and stole all the secret (but luckily encrypted) files, including 'the Vincent Keller cover-up'. JT and Catherine talk to Deputy Secretary Hill from DHS who is not amused about what happened, but refuses to give them access to the encryption code and tells Catherine to solve this hack from the cop angle and that he is getting tired of covering for them.
Catherine is sidelining Vincent in the investigation because of risk of beasting out, exposure, the usual. He does not like it, but complies. Catherine and Tess are investigating the Durbridge family, because JT tracked the hacker to their hotel. As they approach, a bomb explodes and the Bootsy Durbridge is taken to Vincent's hospital. Catherine and Tess go there to interview her and meets Vincent - as her doctor. He senses that Bootsy is hiding something and he tells Catherine, who then berates him for using beast sense.
Somebody knocks out Bootsy's guard at the hospital and wants to kidnap her. Vincent is able to prevent that in the last minute and he brings a half-knocked-out Bootsy home to the apartment. Finally, she tells VinCat that she is protecting FBI infomants in her hotel until they can testify. They take her to JT's for safety and tell her that her family is under protective custody, except for her sister who is in London. Then her sister posts that she is no longer in London, but at a club in NY. Bootsy wants to leave to warn her sister of the danger and she knocks out JT who wants to make her stay.
At the club Bootsy gets grabbed and taken away by two goons in their car. Catherine cannot stop them, but JT can track them - via surveillance cameras - to the Durbridge hotel where a helicopter is waiting. VinCat race to the hotel, Vincent races up to the roof and holds on to the helicopter before he can really take off. He forces it to the ground and grabs the pilot and the goon, while Catherine gets Bootsy out. The goon shows Vincent that he has bomb and threatens to blow up the whole building, but Vincent manages to talk him down and has him arrested.
Tess is worried about Vincent being seen on camera, but Catherine says that she erased the footage from the rooftop. Bootsy comes up to thank them for saving her and she says that now that she is exposed for working for the FBI and all the paparazzi are after her for info about that, she will have to go into hiding, because the criminals will also find out about her hiding key witnesses who could testify against them.
Catherine meets with Heather and Heather now understands that it might be dangerous to bring a new guy into the fold with everything that is going on at the moment.
JT and Vincent are having a heart-to-heart where JT tells Vincent that he turned down tenure at the university. Vincent is surpised, because that is what JT always wanted. JT says that he is not sure about many things any more even about moving in with Tess.
Switch to the aparment: Catherine coming in with two coffees (I guess they take the place of the wine glasses now) and finds that Vincent wants to go out for a run. She hands him a latte and he asks if she wants to prevent him from blurring all over the city. Catherine promises (again) that she learned her lession and that there is no benching him and that they have to do this TOGETHER (I am not even going to make a remark about having heard that before - heck yes, I am!).
Cute ending with Vincent taking both cups, putting them down, picking up Catherine and and they both topple onto the couch. Unfortunately, the scene is cut off before it gets good. The end.
There are some scenes missing here and I may have dropped something, but this is the gist of what happened as far as the story goes. There is so much more of course, but I only saw it once.
Shades of S3 are rearing their heads here with the lack of VinCat cute moments.

Yay for the episode being available earlier this week! My two, five cents for the week lol... - Really liked seeing Vincent pull down the helicopter...it did remind me of superman but as in he'd do the same thing...super strength and speed lol. I get the inkling that they could be going down that path from vincats discussion at the end, having to work together at the same time not risk Vincents abilities . Figuring out how to do that...I have no idea if the writers intend to do a secret identity thing for the future but maybe. It would make sense..but I wonder how they'd pull it off exactly as I didn't really picture or imagine the writers at the start with the intention of the beast into a hero type of character :/ I don't know. - The writers may have read my mind with Vincent being laid back last episode lol. Though this talk bout having a normal life, not wanting to fight beasts it's too repetitive..I just feel maybe there needs to be more acceptance this is how things are atm and not dwell on it; like JT is coming from the right place, he hasn't really complained. Like why can't we see them do more normal things as a normal couple anyway..as well as kick butt in crimes? The end scene was good with the tackling but darn it they chopped it too short I actually wanted to see more of that!

I write it down short for the moment coz I've seen it only once and I've missed some dialogs... I think that the episode starts very slowly with some repetive lines (but we have Vincent in jogging clothes to appreciate), but then we have lots of things going on: we have a case that it could bossibly be beast hunter related, or only VinCat related as they saw the same situazion in the girl life Cat and Tess working together again!!! I was so stressed by Tess always reminding Cat that what she does will bite her a** as a captain... maybe Tess felt herself sided from her best friend and from her boyfriend... now she is on her cop duty again and the cooperation between the two girl is fantastic Heather for the first time doesn't act as a selfish child but was able to listen, reflect and understand (at least for now) bromance talk between Vincent and JT, sorry JT turned down the work offer, but I understand that now he as to figure out what he really wants and it is not the time to go away... best friend ever Vincent is stressed and afraid to be seen but he doesn't try to resist on his power (for the record... Vincent has always have few power: beast vision, lie tracker, beast tracking, blur, strenght ... nothing more... and this time he used all of them) Vincent out of controll... what's new? he was in S1 too Ironic lines, not comedy lines for who hate this (but I think someone will hate them too...)

I think that if the cases aspect of season one was something you liked then this episode was a step in the right direction. Also, I think Heather showed some good growth in this episode (even though I like Kyle- I hope he comes back). Something that has bugged me since the start of season 3 is that within episodes, characters like Catherine, Vincent and Tess all changed their perspective on events. In season one, I think this happened more over a series of episodes and really got to see WHY characters felt the way they did. In season three, we had one episode where at the start one character would be feeling one thing, 10 minutes later would be acting/feeling the complete opposite. Hopefully we don't have so much to-and-fro-ing with Vincent and Cat when it comes to this.
My only other issue with the series so far is Catherine wanting to have a 'normal' life- it's like she forgets Vincent actually has beast DNA and that there are things that mean he wont be able to settle down (ie- the people looking for him). She tells him to not to do this, not do that, but I thought VinCat were always at their best when they worked together in S1+2, Catherine accepted Vincent for who AND what he is and didn't run or try and change it.
Other than that, I think it was a good episode. Good humour, nice to see more of Tess in the field, as I mentioned before- Heather had a short but good episode, Jay and Kristin were great again and I really liked the conversation between JT and Vincent in the gentleman's guild at the end. Unsure where they are going to go from here, but look forward to the next episode.

I think that in S1 Cat doesn't fully accept what Vincent is, previous because she is unsure if he could have been her at some point, then because she was always searching for a way to cure him (with Gabe's pill first and then with reanimation after death). With what happened in S2 she is sure that she wants to be with him and that he will always love her, but she is afraid that sooner or later a new Kurt Windsor will come nearby making Vincent cross the line or oblyge him to run away or hide. I'm ok with her doesn't want Vincent cross the line, but I don't get why she bother that much if they have to run away... That could not separate them unless Cat doesn't see the running with him like a possibility and that is wrong for her IMO. I don't want to spoiler but I think that through those initial episodes Vincent will explore some possibility to live a future with always a danger on his head, and so he will be able to choose what is best for him as individual and for both as a couple. Love that Heather comes to Vincent and to Tess to speak about her problems... They are a big family and for Vincent she is like the little sister he have never had Hate when that Bootsy girl call him Vinni... If I was Cat I would have burnt her with a look ?? Love how Vincent is charming at the hospital with that girl while trying to capture information... Vincent you know how to torture a woman ? Love obviusly the last scene... For the first time is Cat carrying something for his man (a coffee is better than nothing) and how he forgets immediatly his idea to going out for a walk and voted for a couch for two !!!

I think this episode was good. Not beast related but of course we have everyone fearing about exposure which seems to be be the theme this season given that it has been rehashed a few times by all the major characters. I can't fault everyone in this episode for moaning about trying to move on with their life every chance they get given that all of us as human beings do that whenever we can sometimes just for the fun of it. The important thing is that the team managed to work together and get the work done . Saved the girl and prevented exposure. I wonder how Vincent feels when everyone around him complains that this whole beast business is keeping them from living theirs lives given that he is the "beast".
I had missed seeing Vincent going out there and just saving people instead of being hunted and fearing for his humanity. It was also fun to see him use his beast lie detector to determine that Bootsie was lying and going out of his way to save her. Although that may have seemed really strange to Bootsie.
I like Heather and so far she has been fun to watch. I know she doesn't have a job at the moment but from what has been implied so far I think she has tried to find a job but sometimes no matter how much one tries the odds seem to be against you so for now she ll just seem like a nuisance but I am enjoying her scenes. She has good chemistry with everyone. I liked her scenes with Vincent and also with Tess.
I didn't mind Vincent with super powers to stop a helicopter from taking off and given the type of shows out there these days that i have been watching where superpowers seem to be the norm that seemed kind of feasible.
So far I like season 4 and comparing the show with others I still think it's good. Of course if one chooses to look hard enough we can always find something we think can be improved. Even with some of the shows that are considered to be doing very well at the moment there will be things that people complain about. I really enjoy watching outlander and think it's very good. But if you look at the comments on Twitter , Facebook or articles you will find a significant number of people complaining that it's not good enough and it's falling short of expectations. So personally I have decided to focus on what I enjoy about the shows I like and watch and enjoy that. I am hoping to enjoy what remains of the final series of BATB despite the shift in focus.

Quite frankly, that IS a reality that VinCat have to face moving forward: what kind of life they will have.
And this IS the CW, after all. Vincent IS like Superman, as others have mentioned. Even the helicopter thing is a CLASSIC Superman play from the original movie and comics, and is what a superhero has to face.
In SMALLVILLE, you had Clark and others constantly talking about fear of exposure, the alien element of his life, and whether or not that meant he had to live alone and be isolated as a result. THIS is Vincent's own basic fears. And YES, that means the exposure thing is ALWAYS an issue, PARTICULARLY if Vincent wants to make a difference and use his powers to SAVE people as Clark did.
And this fear of exposure and figuring out how to proceed with Cat's cases HAS been a re-occuring problem for VinCat since S1. I LOVED the "Proceed With Caution" episode and how it dealt with these very concepts. Cat's speech to Vincent outside the club in the rain when she ranted that Vincent interfered with her cases in such a way, yet she couldn't contact him, and how she feared she had swan-dived so far over the cliff in the way she had had to cover up Vincent's involvement. BUT BY episode's end, she and Vincent agree to COMPROMISE and redefine their parameters moving forward regarding his involvement.
So the issues are still there. And finding that BALANCE of Vincent's involvement on cases HAS CHANGED from S1 in that he is no longer in hiding. His re-emergence into the public sphere after having been believed to be dead AND the stuff with Gabe has made Vincent endure the SPOTLIGHT now as well. So EXPOSURE is much more RELEVANT and problem-causing NOW, in some ways, then it ever was in S1. Why? BECAUSE you no longer have a Muirfield whose own preservation makes it IMPERATIVE that they cover-up everything that Vincent does. HOMELAND only has so much use for Vincent, at this point.
So without Muirfield, the motivation to hide what Vincent has previously done is less and less something the government is interested in doing. SO IF VINCENT PUTS HIMSELF OUT THERE more in the future, as he chooses to do in this episode, Exposure becomes near-certain.
So, yeah, the parties are going to discuss it. YES, OTHER lives, such as Tess and Heather, are now affected by Vincent's actions and would likely go down with him, due to their knowledge of all things "beast" related. SO IT IS ONLY RIGHT that the characters talk and even moan about it. THEY ARE NOT exactly faulting Vincent---Cat has always been the first person to PRAISE Vincent for wanting to Save Others. But what he does now DEFINITELY affects them BOTH.
And Vincent now walks a FINE LINE in using his Beast Skills when actually TREATING a patient. Vincent did NOT like Cat risking a patient in order to question him in S3, AND THE SAME would APPLY for Cat with Vincent using a MEDICAL situation with his job to INTERVENE in her case.
So we have the FLIP here of what happened in S3 and almost a throwback to S1 with Vincent inserting himself into Cat's cases. BUT even Cat wouldn't like the alternative, where Vincent sits back, does nothing, and lets someone die as a result. SO IT REMAINS something the two HAVE to discuss moving forward.
SO I LIKE THIS. That is realistic and in keeping with the problems THROUGHOUT their relationship of when Beast-Issues or Powers cross into Cat's cases. They both MUST continue to talk it out through each experience/case AND learn to compromise and set appropriate boundaries when moving forward.
And YES, I would like more couple-y moments between VinCat, but even I am realistic---you have basically 44 minutes of episode time. That is hardly enough time to present the case and people and then get it resolved in the timeframe, let alone see what the characters are doing in their off time.

Loved the episode more than the 401 and I'm probably in the minority here. I loved VinCat convo outside Bootsy's hospital room. And I loved how Jay portrayed Vincent this episode. And I am loving how Jay&KK are portraying how much VinCat love each other. I feel it their love and their special bond. So much better than S3. More later

Even compared to the first two episodes of S3, in 401 and 402 Vincent and Catherine aren't constantly bickering, okay they disagree, but they aren't trying to better or outsmart each other like they were for pretty much the whole of last season. Even though Catherine tried to bench Vincent in 402, she had good intentions they did eventually work together to stop the threat. Would like to see a one of the more serious S1 (fire escape??) conversations between VinCat about how Vincent feels responsible for dragging everyone back into the whole 'beast exposure' mess, as I think it's something that the episode touched on but could maybe go into more detail?
