Hey Zena, agree Jay is a very good actor, but I also think KK is also brilliant, at many moments of this episode she conveyed so many emotions with her eyes, it was very real. I never said she wasn't. I first started watching the show because I love her and have been a huge fan since Smallville but I said that Jay shocked and surprised me with his amazing talent and acting skills that I kind of forgot about KK and that she was the reason I started watching in the first place She is amazing and can say so much with her expressive eyes. Add to that that KK has great chemistry with all her male co-stars and can easily make you cry with all the emotions she conveys

Act 4: JT confronts an out of control Gabe BEAST...I'm guessing he thinks Gabe can understand him cause he tells him about his BORING DNA! LOL But Gabe don't give a rat what he's saying cause he doesn't understand a thing. JT gets tossed like a potato and is thrown to the ground..Vincent and Catherine come the tranq gun..It takes 4 darts to bring Gabe down....Realization that Gabe is a beast finally hits him...Catherine calls Tess to tell her they found Gabe but that he wasn't yet in a state to be able to go back to the princict...Catherine hangs up and sees JT doing something with Gabe's meds..She tells him if he's going to keep one to analyze to see if anything could be done for Vincent....JT begins to tell her why change things when he has accepted who he was...He explains to her how many of the early years tehy spent doing stuff that almost killed Vincent and that there came a point when Vincent just gave up...That he had made peace with what he was and that things should be left that way not to open the emoitional rollercoaster for him again. In walks Vincent..Telling them Gabe was waking up...They go to Gabe still in Beast form and JT injects him..It works! Catherine introduces JT and Vincent to him..Gabe explains that he needs Vincent's DNA to see the properties in Vincent can stablize him so he doesn't become a beast at all times without the meds.....We also learn that Gabe can't be without the meds cause he would be in BEAST MODE AND UNCONTROLLABLE at all times...Gabe tells them he's willing to share meds with him...Then Catherine interrupts and asks to sepak to Vincent alone....Catherien tells Vincent that he doesn't need to do anything for her that she's okay with the way things are...Vincent explains to her that after what he just saw there was no going back..That he had to try it...Catherine again said it was too risky that it might not work...Vincet figured out that it was what her and JT were talking about and that she is trying to control his emotional rolloercoaster...HE tells her that if it fails this time it wouldn't matter cause he had her in his life! Then JT draws Vincent blood and Vincent takes the pill...Commercial ^ I love this part...Now we finally get to know what Gabe wanted the whole time. What he needs from Vincent. I also think that Gabe is a desperate man at this point...The line that he said that he would kill himself before he got to the point of being a beast at all times was CROCK!! LOL! Before I even saw the end scene to this episode I just knew Gabe wouldn't do that.
Now the emotional rollercoaster for Vincent..I think now he's not doing it for himself even though now he is begining to see 'a ray of light' for his future..He still wants to remain firm in the fact that if it doesn't work Catherine will be there to help him deal with the heartbreak..This would make their relationship which is already solid even more so...I think he too wants this for Catherine..He hasn't said the words yet..but we all know what he wants. I loved the fact that Catherine was there beside him when JT was taking his bloos...It said a lot for the support they give each other! BEAUTIFUL! I also loved the way he looked at her when he took the pill...he sort of lifted the glass of water like 'cheers' type of thing...also BEAUTIFUL...And the way she looked at him before commerical...her eyes showed, love, fear, and total acceptance no matter what! Now we come toVncent and Catherine talking to Gabe to see if the pill works..Gabe explains a mettalic taste in the mouth which is the 'tell' that the pill is doing it's job...They hang up with Gabe and Vincent tells Catherine he has 12 hours before he turns back into a pumkin..That what does she want to do?? Date night we wanted she says...A movie? Vincent asks Catherine tells him I got something better..She takes out the hotel pool pass... We see Vincent walking with Catherine to the pool both wearing whilte robes..Vincent tells her there are too many poeple..SHe asks if he still had that mettalic taste he said yes...She tells him it was fine that M wouldn't find them in a hotel pool..Vincent jokes that he can't swim and then retracts and says he was kidding..She jokes she buy him floaters LOL and then he opens his robe to show his TRUNK (Okay not going there now but I rather say at least in my mind LOL) then he jumps in the pool...Cut to JT who is doing his lab work on the famous miracle pill...JT breaks it down...puts stuff in it..tech stuff..LOL We come back to the pool and we see a swimming Vincent...he's playful with Catherine splashing her...He tells her it has been over 10 years that he's been in a pool..He is having so much fun..enjoying the moment...Then Catherine tells him that if this is real that she was off the next day that they can get red vines and go to an actual movie theater....Vincent tells her to go right ahead that that was nice but that he was thinking more of 'picket fence'..She can't beleive it and asks.."Are you teasing me?"...He flat out gets serious and says"NO..I WANT IT" He explains that he wanted it but that for him that was never a possiblity anymore...That he couldn't even think of such a thing...Then Catherine confesses she wants the same thing too..He teases her"SO you were lying." She explains that she never wanted that until she found him. Then he tells her that it only took a fancy pool and she was in..She tells him she was meterialistic and that all she wanted him as her sugar daddy LOL...He's like we I have to get a job first..So she said they had to take it slow...Then e gets all serious again..grabs her hands and tells her he doesn't want to wait...That he and JT would go into witness protection...Then he tells her that for now that didn't matter that he was there with her not worried that he would lose control...and that he could be with her...Then they kiss...they get it on until they are interrupted by JT's phone call...Catherine talks to JT and JT tells her that the miracle pill is gooing to kill Vincent in 3 years tops if he continues taking it...This is devestating for both JT and Catherine and Catherine decides to tell Vincent...Once Vincent is told the only thing on his mind was that teh drug worked...He figures that 3 years of a life with Catherine going on dates...being about..was better life then the one without the pill..Catherine disagreed..She said that a life like that meant nothing if he wasn't in it..She made him promise he wouldn't take the pill..HE PROMISED. Vincent then tells her he still had 5 hours left..that what shoudl they do with that time..She said that Heather was away for the night and that they could go there.."PERFECT" was the word he used...Morning after....Vincent has the pill bottle in his hand..takes one out and holds it...he looks back and sees a sleeping Catherine...he just stares at her for a few seconds..just absorbing the woman he loves..then turns around takes the pill...He lays down behind Catherine, looks at her again..and nuzzles her and holds her tight...Then we see baddies trying to break in her apartment door.... ^ The pool scene is the most REVEALING and HEARTFELT convo those two have ever had...For Vincent it opened the possiblity that he could have a 'normal' life with Catherine...A life with the woman he loved..This is a man who until the beginning of this episode was talking about having no future, no coming out of the shadows, getting that 'picket fence' became a REAL possiblity for him and those emotions came out needed all came out. For Catherine the same thing..She never felt anything for anyone like she has for Vincent..The fact that she too wants a life with him..to be with him, to move forward with him. KUDOS to KK and Jay for such outstanding performance...they eyes, the looks, the expressions all were so believable that when the BAD NEWS came IT HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS!! Talk about devestating!
After so much high they learn that which he could have will shorten his life..What I LOVED about this part is the fact that Vincent was content with living with Catherine those 3 years...He was willing to get that 'picket fence' even if it killed him. We know she wouldn't allow that. I get where she's coming from..She has accepted who he is and thus she knew getting into the relationship that there was limits to how far they could go...BUT the fact that Gabe had that pill made her too begin to see that which I think they noth never had 'hope'. I know he called her on being dissapointed and he knew it but yet again he also knows she's a big girl who can take a lot.The emotional rollercoaster is now not ridden by just ONE but by TWO...making the ride more bearable cause they both have each other to fall on.
Now we come to the decision of Vincent taking the pill. To me this IS the most poignant scene well no the sceond we'll get to the first below LOL..But this scene was HEARTBREAK, he looked back seeing what he would be missing...That 'pciket fence' he told her he wanted now once again was ripped from him..He stared at her sleep..He still believes that he rathr die making her happy...So he takes it...cuddles and holds her...Taking in what he knows is but once again a wish, a dream, a fantasy. Okay final act next...Continue if you wish..LOL Once again I told you this was long

Final act
At Catherine's apartment we get the Bustamanti family memebr Chewy wanting revenge on what Catherine and Vincent did in the parking garage. They attack Catherine...There's a struggle and then Vincent jumps in fighting the baddies with her..This time it's just him...NOT beast cause we know why..Well they are both getting their asses kicked until Catherine is able t fight her attacker..knocks him out and grabs her gun...Vincent is in bad position as Catherine points the gun to the bad dude "Let him go" She tells the thud...Vincent then grabs the guys head and slams it on the counter top knocking his butt out...Catherine gets closer to Vincent..'You didn't...it's been over 12 hours." Vincent: "Yeah, I just wanted to go to the movies with you." Then she touches his bloody head....and hears cop sirens..Vincent leaves....Tehn we go to Joe's office and Tess confronts him on the way he's been treating her...He confesses to her that he's madly in love with her...Then they are interrupted(NOT GOING THERE READ TE SPOILER THREAD FOR THAT DETAIL)...Then we see Catherine in the alley Vincent apologizes for talking the pill and explains that the reason he did it was because he does want to have a life with her..other then the one of hiding, he wants that 'picket fence' ...Catherine tells him she wants that too and that she loves him for who he is...but that she doesn't want him to give up..That she knows they have a future other then the one he thinks they have...That they should at least have a fantasy of what they could look forward too..They talk about kids, dogs. Vincent told her he would start to find a cure again...that he was afraid if it didn't work she would leave...Once again she had to reassure him she wasn't going anywhere..They kiss in the alley...Cut to Gabe..Tyler did the test on Vincent's DNA, it will work but Tyler told him that what she needs from Vincent..Vincent would die....Gabe says "Whatever it takes."
Well here are my final thoughts...I know I'm sorry again, but this ties everything I said in my previous two...
^I said from the beginning that when I first saw this episode it saddened me to no end..That I felt that there love was omnious..That's what I thought..but then the end scene changed that for me..Here's how I see it...I want you to understand how I saw this episode...I saw three stages...
1. PURPOSE - 1.the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc. 2.an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.
BOTH Catherine and Vincent now want the samething. That which at the beginning of the episode they thought was immpossible. The idea of 'picket fence' will be that which thrive them.
2. COMMITMENT the act of committing, pledging, or engaging oneself.
Now more then ever I see this in both of them..Vincent at first was afraid to get into the commitment thing..Not because he didn't want it but because he was afraid of it! Catherine once she realized what she wanted and that Vincent is her 'life' knew and was already totally commited to him
And the thing that I think these two got the most out of this
HOPE the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best
Until this episode neither of them really had any hopes or expectations...They were willing to live the way they have without looking out of the box..This pill gave them HOPE that even if this didn't work there would be SOMETHING SOMEDAY that would and that they could eventually have that 'picket fence' life they both wanted.
I know this is a TV show and I tend to analyze and put things into prospective but I can't help myself these characters feel so real to me.... This episode is categorized to me with those three words PURPOSE, COMMITMENT and HOPE and they know as we know the ROAD will be ROCKY at times...But we also know the END GAME!
NOTE : The line that HIT me the most was "I just wanted to go to the movies with you." That said it all! It was like a stab in the heart and it hurt like hell. The way Jay played that was spot on too! Making it so believable. POOR VINCENT!
Yolie signing off for a bit...My fingers hurt from typing Oh and pardon for ALL my spelling errors...I suck at it so forgive me..I wasn't going to fix all my three posts! HELL NO!! LOL
Coments, thoughts are always welcome..You know how I love to discuss things.

^ I´m amazed how every episode can be so good, even those with Alex in it. Those episodes had amazing Vincat moments too. However, I have been able to watch those episodes again until a short time ago, Alex moments were so bad! Thanks for saying this. I agree that the Alex episodes have great VinCat moments and would be a shame not to rewatch those because Alex is in it. I have many favorite scenes from those four episodes. Hey Zena, agree Jay is a very good actor, but I also think KK is also brilliant, at many moments of this episode she conveyed so many emotions with her eyes, it was very real. Does anyone else feel like the ep gives so many emotions that you just can't seem to post about it? Like there is too much to say--to many conflicting emotions? I still haven't posted my thoughts.

^ Yep, it's kind of too much, which is why I post scattered haphazard thoughts. It's too much to bring it all together. I think Yolie made a good point about how all the discussion and honesty about future wants brought them forward to a place where the endgame is actually evident. No matter what the struggles are, they can't take that back. I feel like Date Night is going to be episode that more or less centers the entire series. That alone is huge. I'd like to say more, but I've got to run.

The magnitude of the events...from another beast, to the pregnancy scare, to the discussion of what they 'both' want..The fact that there might be hope for Vincent and a cure..THE FACT that for 12 hours HE was NORMAL.....That in itself is EPIC..I don't know if it's because I am a romantic but this episode just brings all issues above the water! Bringing for me the best performances from the lead actors and their sidekicks as well! Yolie

This episode just gets better and better every time I watch it. I see more levels to it, I understand more of the magnitude of where they are taking the characters and Vincent and Catherine's connection becomes even richer and deeper. Perhaps the episode seemed rushed to some because there WAS so much to take in. We just needed to breathe, reboot and soak it all up. Just like we have faith in the writers, they must have had equal faith in us that we would get to the place where we could all understand just how profound this episode was and what a linchpin it will be for the series.
And I gotta hand it to Jay with the way he plays Vincent, I don't how a guy can be so masculine and have such soft eyes all at the same time!!The way he looks at Catherine throughout this entire episode stops my heart.

Yolie - reading your poignant descriptions and comments, couldn't help but tear up a little! I know this episode seems even more meaningful watching it again, absorbing the subtleties - and of course reading all of your comments and descriptions.
I think this is my favourite episode...and I'll rewatch all of them again regardless. But the details for the characters, the emotional nuances are so powerful here, more "real".
Which brings me to the Alex arc. I liked the Alex arc of the series - as it added to the Vincent emotion and explained part of his past, his character, etc. (and any additional excuses for more Vincent scenes is fine with me, especially when you see the emotion in his eyes.) And it brought an element to Vincent and Catherine that they had been dancing around - they both needed Alex to come into the picture to admit to themselves - and hence to each other - what they wanted, what they feared, and that they are going to be in it together. They want the same things, just took them a while to admit it - to themselves!
So in DATE NIGHT - same thing. They need to realize the walls they built individually around their own hearts that they built to "protect" themselves, will not help with each other, they both realize they want the same thing and to unlock the doors / allow each other beyond those walls brings them to a closer, deeper relationship and helps cement the commitment and love for each other.
Granted, I would pay to see Jay Ryan read the phone book - so all the more these heart felt scenes get to me. Sigh!

Hello Beasties,
Welcome all the newbies.
It's been way too hectic for me this month.
But anyways, I liked the episode.
BUT
BUT
suzieq, I have to agree with you............ there was NOTHING SEXY about this episode.
BUT
I knew it wouldn't be. I had a feeling early last week that the pool scene was not going to be all that. I didn't want to come and give negative vibes until after the episode aired. But I think them producers love to exaggerate. Talk, talk, talk. I wasn't feeling it.
No doubt Jay/Vincent was HOT!!! I mean come on.....you gotta be a morrow not notice that.
The pool scene was CUTE and NICE. I liked it. But I have to agree with many that right there, there was way too much talking. And honestly I didn't need any more sexy stuff. I am not looking for tongue or a whole make out scene. I just thought that the producers took us for a spin on that "SEXY" word to describe the episode.
Well folks, I got so much wrapped around my head I don't even know where to start. I watched the episode twice now to get a handle on things and I am reading some of this thread.
