Okay call me optimistic but I don't think the writers will throw the relationship in the back burner. I think these obstacles will be minor, the EX won't be a threat to Catherine but more to Vincent and his keeping his identity secret..As for the Catherine love interest? I'm not saying Vincent won't be jealous but he'll be more of a nu-sense then love interest.
I trust the writers for some reason...So far they have managed to gradually show the closer bond between them, both romantically and in general. Now I do hope we get that EPIC kiss soon! If the dancing in Bridesmaid up had our hearts melting I can imagine the KISS!!

Fire and Ice - Shonda Rhimes said that she don't like the fans dictating. She was on Oprah. Talking professionally of course. But she made it sound like she ended one of her shows because she had no room to grow. Fans were all up in her face. And I have heard other writers say that they don't read any of the fan suggestions. They want a clear mind and blah, blah, blah. I understand. But TV is not like before. Now it can get ugly if you don't give the fans what they want. I agree with you about the Valentine idea. But I am not going to get myself worked up. Not yet at least. I still say they MISSED AN OPPORTUNITY in this episode. It's obvious that the writers don't want to do things the obvious way. They want to throw us off. And I don't say "Suprise Me" from time to time. But if they start to go around the romance and keep it on the back burner. I AM OUT!!!!! ~Milo I've met some television writers, and they seemed pretty cool about fan responses/input/feedback. However, the writers knew what they were doing, and had plot points they wanted to hit and an overall storyline arch that they were following. Likewise, I've talked to a lot of published authors and they've said similar things. They know what their characters are going to do or basically how the series is going to turn out. They want their fans to like the work as much as the author does, but writers realize that you cannot possibly please everyone. I think the BATB writers appreciate the fans. Why wouldn't they?By supporting the show, we're keeping them employed. But the kiss will come when the writers feel it is right...doesn't mean I can't be frustrated until the kiss does happen. haha! You know, I agree with the writers. Mainly because these days most of the fans or let's just say the people who watches TV think they are professionals. Everyone is writing critics about movies, everyone thinks he/she is a writer or knows what makes a movie good etc. Just because you have a place, like internet, where you can say whatever you want, it doesn't make you an expert of everything. I say leave to the professionals who knows what they are doing. As a writer, in my opinion, you can't satisfy every single viewer that's why I think is quite stupid to make demands toward them... Nelly, I think you're absolutely right on. You can't satisfy everyone. When I was taking an Advanced Fiction Writing Course my last year in college, we were critiquing and being critiqued. The professor, who was a published author himself, made a big speech about how input from others was helpful, but at the end of the day, you had to do what you felt was best for the story and characters. You can't please everyone. However, he also told us that if everyone was saying the same thing that we maybe want to pay attention to those critiques more. The writers know viewers want that kiss and it's been mentioned in interviews. I think it will happen this season. Maybe if the ratings were super high I'd think otherwise, but given the current ratings, I think the kiss will happen this season. I just hope it happens soon and not at the very end of the season. There is a difference between making demands and voicing your concerns. When fans begin losing interest, the show ends and goes straight to DVD. Now, I understand the reasoning behind the writers delaying certain things, yet at the same, the writers need to maintain the interest of their audience. I do worry a little about some viewers tuning out if a kiss doesn't happen soon too. But I think that "Bridesmaid Up" was a good episode for giving the fans a little bit of love. I mean the dance scene was amazing! True, some fans are not going to be happy about the fact that there wasn't a kiss, but I think all fans were happy by the romantic scenes in this episode. Ok, I'm sorry if I used a wrong word, that seemed to be too harsh (demand). Again, English is not my native language, sometimes it's hard to express what you really want to say. I just meant that the professional writers probably know how a story needs to be built up, without the fans/viewers telling them... No problem and I truly understand where you are coming from. Yet, I think most of us want the writers to give BATB the right kind of blend. More specifically, if the writers were to focus on the romantic aspects of series at least 50-60% of the time, us beasties would probably be more than content with that. After Bridesmaid Up, VinCat practically established themselves as a couple. Now it is time for the writers to focus on their relationship, despite whatever obstacles they encounter. I totally agree with your post, Reyna! I would like to see the romantic aspects seen between Vincat, especially in "Bridemaid Up" continue from this point forward. I also would like to see them both acknowledge that they are dating/in a relationship.

Milo, I've heard some writers get annoyed when fans act like they know better...that being said, I think the writers know what they are doing to everyone when they keep withholding the kiss!!! I get that the writers have a plan and an idea of how everything should work out, but seriously! Time for the kiss. If it takes a few more episodes, so it lands on Valentine's Day, ok. But I don't want to wait until the end of the season or the season finale for this kiss. They need to seriously speed things up. Vincent and Cat may be guarded, but they don't come across that guarded. Seriously. They constantly touch each other and flirt. Vincent saw in the dating profile and Cat has practically smacked him in the head with her "you're not fake" and "I just got his last name wrong" stuff. Come on, Vincent! If Valentine's Day's episode has a kiss, I will be happy. If instead Vincent and Cat are all mopey about Valentine's Day because everyone seems to have someone and they can't express their love, I will probably yell at my screen that no one can be that stupid. Seriously. Vincent has practically stalked the girl for a decade; he likes her. The dating profile showed him that she felt the same, along with everything else. From the promo clip in the hospital if Cat is indeed talking to Vincent (and this isn't some strange hallucination or psych out by the writers), then they will know they have feelings for each other. There is no "I'm unsure" anymore; they know, and the next move is for them to kiss. Then the writers can torture us by holding off on the "L" word or something. Basically, I am ready for them to kiss. Love your post, Fire and Ice....you summed up perfectly how I feel at this point. Valentine's Day would be the perfect opportunity for the VinCat to have their first kiss and I hope it happens!! I too will be very upset if the writers decide to wait until the end of the season for a kiss..there are no guarantees of a 2nd season right now and I want to see more progress in this relationship especially since they are going to start bringing in all these new characters in the next few months. Thanks, hcastro! I am worried about whether or not there will be a Season 2 as well, and if this is all I get of Vincat... I just want to make the most of it! (I'm hoping all the fan efforts being made though secure a second season though! I haven't given up hope.) I know this is a "drama" show; therefore, it can't always be sunshine and roses for Vincat. Still, I want to see a continuation of the romance that was shown in "Bridesmaid Up," and I want a romantic Valentine's Day episode -- not a sad, 'boohoo, woe is me, I'm single' episode.

I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying.
I love it that some more folks are on THE KISS bandwagon.
I don't even presume to write and tell the writers of a show what I want or how I feel. I think they get a good dose from others. I certainly would not want anyone interfering with my creative process but for that go write a book, a movie, make an album. TV has gotten different.
Sure these people commenting are not professionals or experts. But that is exactly what has changed in this day and age. You think the kids reading and making comments care. The change is that everybody and their mama can comment. Everyone CAN BE a critic. And everyone IS a critic. Like it or not.
Back in 2009, when the First Lady stepped out in her inaugural dress everyone was commenting. And I was reading the reviews to an older gentleman at church and he jumped up and said to me, "Who is writing this stuff? Who is criticizing her dress? Who are these people? That is not the New York Times. Who cares." But that was just it. He was out of touch.
Hey, don't get mad at me. Go blame the guy who created T---- and FB".
I told him, "Who cares about the New York Times. The New York Times speaks for only themselves. And maybe for you. But now everyone has a voices. Now everyone is a critic. And now everyone is reading it. So the NYT and The Washington Post are no longer the only one that can talk."
And that's just how it is now. Professional are not.......who cares. The key is that different people are reading different things. Reading what they want, when they want and making up there own minds. And commenting on it.
Who cares if a Vogue magazine editor doesn't like Micheal Kors white bag. Oprah wears it, someone takes a photo, a few good comments and the thing is a hit.
My point is that things don't work like before especially for TV shows. Especially now when there are tons of options. I just went to a friends house who told me she watches this show on (don't know if I can say it) it a legal way thru the computer. Anyways, she has only seen three or four episodes. She is not going to watch any more till later unless it gets hot and heavy she tells me. I am not telling anything. But if she reads comments from any place that things didn't go the way she wanted, then she won't tune in to the rest of the season. She doesn't have to stick around like back in the '80's of "Dynasty" and "Dallas". She can read the comments online. She can read the recaps and reviews online.
When there is that much freedom. Then you've got to play the game differently.

~MiloI get all you say about how things changed from way back when.. But there is a factor that worries me more then anything writers write or don't write.. Will there be a second season? If so the writers can't push the relationship too fast to give the show it's flow. IF the show doesn't come for a second season how will they end the show? Leave us all wondering how the relationship turned out? These are questions I ask myself everyday. I can handle taking things slow and gradually(all relationships need time to grow) but will we experience its full fruition or will we be cut short?

People! There won't be a second season if they don't get the first season right.
Worry about THIS season.
It's like football. They take the season ONE GAME AT A TIME. Everybody wants to get to the Super Bowl. But it's ONE game each week. One game at a time. The football analyze want to talk about two weeks from now and this and that. The team says, "One game at a time."
Same here. Get the writing together. Get your stories together. If they (the writers) are smart they should know by now how the season is going to end. The problem is how to get there. What will happen in between. And remember this is a re-make. It's not like they don't have a blue print of HOW the story goes. They can go look at the original series and get ideas.

I totally agree with your post, Reyna! I would like to see the romantic aspects seen between Vincat, especially in "Bridemaid Up" continue from this point forward. I also would like to see them both acknowledge that they are dating/in a relationship. Thank you Fire and Ice. VinCat are in love with each other, literally soul mates now, why not express their relationship publicly and openly. Despite concealing his identity, Vincent risked his safety to be with Cat, not caring who saw him even Muirfield for that matter. Bearing this in mind, there is no reason why VinCat cannot go out to dinner, hold hands, share little kisses here and there, etc. Quite honestly, with all the little public displays of affection mentioned beforehand, how again would we be missing the gradual buildup of their relationship? Further, would this relationship still not be old school?
Please do not get me wrong, I genuinely respect the writers. Yet, occasionally they leave me feeling a little stumped and dumbfounded.

~Milo Precisely Milo, I fully agree with you. Come April/May, BATB will be up for renewal. Before we even reach that point, the writers must concentrate on this season first. Providing BATB is in the toss up stage currently, the writers will need to be extremely careful as to which direction they want this series to go. Quite honestly, for me personally anyway, it would be in the best interest of the writers not to put VinCat on the back burner. The writers never should have brought Alex into the mix this soon. This now brings up a very good question.
Given, Vincent had plenty of opportunities to tell Cat that he had promised himself to another woman at one point, why wait until the next episode to tell her, especially since VinCat made it clear in “Trapped” not keep secrets from each other anymore, just found that to be very interesting. Anyhow, going back on topic, the writers still could have brought in the shrink and the ADA as the writers made it quite clear that Evan was never really a love interest, and truthfully, I really do not see either the shrink or the ADA being love interests for Cat. Now, I can see both being flirtatious with her, yet her not returning those feelings, as Cat has already given her heart to Vincent at this point. However, should the opposite materialize, the writers would then be entering dangerous territory.
Nevertheless, fans that present writers with demeaning feedback and make ridiculous demands, the writers would easily dismiss them. Yet, for those fans that present writers with heartfelt feedback, the writers should definitely consider their feedback. As mentioned beforehand, I genuinely respect all writers, yet, just wish the writers would be receptive to constructive criticism and open-minded.

Reyna - Good point.
I am thinking that maybe the story should not have moved along so fast.
Nah, I like it that we have come to this point. It's just that they really, really need to look at the bigger picture.
It's a bit tricky but they have got to intertwine the Catherine and Vincent story with the every day obstacles.

Yes, Valentine's Day would be good. Watch them not do it. I hear writers of TV show are getting sick and tired of fans telling them what to do. How to write the shows. You can imagine in today's world it can be overwhelming and a bit of bombardment. Some of these writers don't want to do what we tell them. HA! ~Milo Milo, I've heard some writers get annoyed when fans act like they know better...that being said, I think the writers know what they are doing to everyone when they keep withholding the kiss!!! I hear you on this.
I just don't understand why they had Vincent coming into Cat's bedroom, sitting on her bed, she wishing he could go to the wedding. Vincent inviting himself...helping her with her necklace. I mean it goes on and on. And NO KISS!!!
I mean I don't get that.
He had his fingers wrapped around her waist at the wedding. SLOW DANCING!!!
I am now thinking that maybe they should not of given us all of that if there wasn't going to be a KISS.
Maybe slow it down then. I don't know. Even though truly, I really, really loved the wedding scenes. But what guy has his hands wrapped around you like that if he is not into you. I don't get it. Who stares at someone like that while slow dancing and doesn't make the next move? I don't get it. Maybe they should not have danced so close to each other or stared at each other for so long.
In my opinion, they made the scene too romantic to then not have a kiss.

I really liked this episode for the movement in Vincent & Catherine's relationship. The two scenes in particular...
The easy intimacy between V/C when Catherine changes into her LBD with Vincent just outside the bathroom, then casually hands him a necklace to fasten around her neck. Vincent's attention to her while performing this small task is really nice. I also like the appreciative look he gives her when she reappears in the LBD.
The very romantic wedding dance; V/C fell even harder for each other in that scene. And it was nice to see that J.T. wasn't the only one who cleaned up nicely.
Annoyance factor: Heather. She sucked the life out of every scene she was in.
