The Jay Kristen chemistry totally depends on the Vincent Catherine chemistry.Acting can only get u so far.If there is an issue it will get in the way.I get the latest episodes doesn't call 4 full romance,But the 3rd grade kisses does not sit well with me.The direction and plot in terms of drama i get and understood.A little more chemistry and passion in the closes not zoomed out kissing.Iam not expecting anything epic leading up to the finale.Just hope season 2 the wardrobe styling direction and entire show needs to up the anty. With so many good shows on tv BATB even with lackluster promos from CW needs to go hard or go home.Because many old batb fans from 80's have issues with the remake. But they give it a chance because myself & others pleaded with them to watch. My Mom and aunts said they like and watch but said the passion intensity and chemistry is lacking.

Maybe it's an age thing, but I have no problem with the level of intimacy being shown in the last few episodes, including this one. I think a great deal is being implied, rather than shown in many of the scenes and the wake up scene was a case in point. It was quite a layered scene when you break it down. On the surface it just seems like Vincent 'dropped in' to watch Cat sleep.....another interpretation is that he spent the night, but being more nocturnal in his habits was up before the dawn and also he went out for coffee so obviously he's dressed. Catherine was sleeping on only one side of the bed, which as anyone who sleeps alone will tell you isn't usually the norm.....singles take up the whole bed !! anyway, the point I was making was that the whole scene resonated with intimacy, from Vincents cuddling up to her, to her total acceptance of his right to be there - in her bedroom - in her bed - it showed how comfortably they are in the physical sense, and Vincents restraint when Catherine would have taken it further was obviously hard for him, but necessary to counter her obvious deflection in facing visiting her mother. is this making any sense? anyway, I just wanted to point out that maybe what is on the screen is more restrained that we've had before and would like to see again, but that said it is more subtle and layered as you would expect in a couple completely into each other on all levels. all their interactions, their emotions, are intense - even the angry bits are layered - the actors doing a terrific job in conveying the conflicting emotions given the misleading information they are having to process, and the difficulty of keeping it all under wraps. how hard would it be for any 'normal' couple to keep their feelings hidden, how conflicting to keep all the strands of the conspiracy against them untangled, and to keep each other safe from everything out there wanting to harm them.....and they only know half of the story !!! What I did drool over in this episode was seeing Vincent working out..........*swoon<edited>.......give me that every day and I'll be a happy fangirl forever. A loving relationship is as much about the quiet moments, as it is about the intense ones.......and of course this is just my humble opinion....

Okay first off I'm going to put my two cents in the convo of lack of romance and or passion... The last few episodes have been very dark...YES dark..First we get Evan's death in Heart Of Darkness which by all means had affected Catherine deeply. Then we got Playing With Fire and the fact that cause of what happened to Evan she decides that for Vincent's sake M must be taken down...In the same episode she and Tess are still dealing with Evan's demise and of course the fact that Gabe knows about M and is using her with her mother to get what he wants. Now forward to Anniversary. What would be worse even after ten years to have to deal with the *day* your mother was killed in front of you? The only good thing that came out of it was that Vincent saved her . Put that and the fact that she now knows that the woman that she thought was perfect and always did good wasn't the same person she knows now. All these factors would put a damper on any relationship or sex, passion whatever you want to call it. Vincent remmeber can sense her and knows everything she is feeling...He did what he thought best when he stopped her in wanting to get initmate with him..It wasn't the right time...it's like he felt she was doing so to escape having to deal with her mother's annivesary and what she feels for her. I think Catherine as well as Vincent have been going through an emotional rollercoaster and there feelings for each other have taken a protective turn rather then romantic. I get where the writers are going with this....I don't think a person in real life dealing with so much would want to <edited> like rabbits I'm sorry. Because if you guys think that this is what sells this show..Then I believe that then this show should be a soap opera or a show that only puts couples together to have them have sex. This show is more then that to me... this show is RELATIONSHIP, in EVERY form, NOT just making out session and HOT sex...Maybe it's cause I'm 49 and I look beyond that....I love the gestures he does for her...the face rub, the shoulder rub in the end scene those are subtle but yet gestures of affection that are displayed by a MAN who is in love with a WOMAN. There looks. Sometimes the smallest things..the words said do more then just HOT sex.I wish my hubby would decorate withtwinkle lights and candle my roof..what man does that? If that's not romantic I don't know what is! What I'm saying that with EVERYTHING both characters have had to deal with the last few episodes a HOT SEX SCENE would be out of place! Tha't just my humble opinion and honest one for that matter. Also : Kristin and Jay are pros...they've been acting for a long time and I find it hard to believe that they would bring in there personal feelings or whatever to the roll or lack of..If the romance of the story somewhat changed it has to do with the way the writers want to go with it..NOT the actors personal lives ..read all I said above and I believe they are doing a great job at trying to make a very complicated and dangerous relationship work as potraying Catherine and Vincent. Now to change the subject I will have 8 clips up in this thread in a few minutes.. Carry on Yolie I was not going to comment at all until I saw Yolie's post, which is pretty much just what I was thinking. What I feel in the kissing scenes is not a "lack of passion" at all. For me the passion is there, with the heat turned down a bit. Last night I felt completely satisfied by those scenes. I see that they are working on growing the depth of the relationship, which I might add, does not always require MORE tongue. LOL!! This is not Clark and Lana- they were teenagers if memory serves. Not everyone necessarily acts like that when they meet and fall in love with the love of their life at 30 or 35. Personally I loved the opening and closing scenes, the way that Vincent talked about watching her sleep, and HOW he climbed into the bed... Sorry folks but for me that was totally hot. Totally no holds barred territorial, I'm going to climb ON TOP of YOU and KISS you good morning at the same time. I loved that. I have a DVR and must have rewatched that part alone 15x. I also realized that the reason he had to be fully dressed (including coat) is so that it looked like he just showed up and hadn't spent the night... I loved that whole scene, including the way she tried to slide down in the bed later and fit herself to him. I feel like what they are showing us is a much more intimate and don't-shoot-me but mature relationship. This is good because the next step is planning a future together, and not one that is fueled solely by a sex-induced-haze. Is it fun to watch them acting like crazy teenagers? Perhaps yes, but given what they are dealing with right now, that seems entirely inappropriate. One additional dimension that I notice is that Vincent has very clearly loved her for a LONG time. This much is obvious, and I think they are letting us see that. The history of their relationship is there in every scene. Personally I like that it feels like they have known each other a long time. He knows her because he watched over her for all those years - and we can see that familiarity is a factor in the direction their relationship is headed. My husband knows my tells because we have been together for 14 years now. And Vincent has 10 years of getting to know Catherine from a distance... I don't know, for me, this detail is pretty sexy. When we talk about the "old married couple vibe" - I think this part has to do with Vincent's knowledge of her that pre-dates their actual relationship. Anyway, I could say more, probably will say more later. I love the partial transformation of Vincent swiping at the tree. Total hotness. I love seeing JR "become" the beast. They should show us the partial transformation more. I love the total honesty, and watching each of them falling off the even-keel wagon only to apologize and make-up later. I also loved that Tess called Vincent - how cute was that? And basket-case Heather? I love her. Overall I thought it was a great episode. I still have nothing good to say about Gabe.

Carry on Yolie Yolie, I have your back on this and will have lots more to say when I come back with my in-depth comments on the episode. May be a bit because I have a dental procedure this morning and will be feeling NO pain for a while. LOL But I do want to add...this relationship moves forward even when it's not played out on our screens. I have no doubt VinCat is having sex whenever they can. In addition to the darkness of the last few stories, couples who are loving regularly have taken the edge off that "do me! do me now!!" passion they show when they've never been with each other but want to be desperately. Vincent and Catherine are adults, not kids, and their relationship and gestures toward each other show that. They are SO real with each other and I LOVE it. It's soooo refreshing. Their kisses are tender, intimate and full of love. Vincent's actions toward Catherine this episode--when he wasn't going Code Yellow (love that term, too, BATB's first 'ism')--were totally romantic and damn near perfect. He loves this woman, he respects her and her individualism. Best of all, he knows this woman. Amen. Leaving the building. LOL

Did you notice when Cat said in the ending rooftop scene: 'Ok, shut up, let me just kiss you' it wasn't her who leaned in for the kiss first,it was V! Look who's having a hard time keeping his hands (and lips) off the other one! I think they probably end up having sex after this scene. It's their anniversary after all, and now V has a bedroom in the new place.

About Gabe, he has serious problems controlling his beastly side. He seems pretty desperate. Yes, Vincent is right, he's dangerous and he's going to use Cat to find V. But this should probably be in the other thread,I know Sorry

I loved the episode and thought it had the right balance between action and romance. I have read posts where there are statements of disappointment in the amount and caliber of kisses. I am with those Beasties who (for varying reasons) find that the interaction between Vincent and Cat represents (at this stage) intimacy and romance---romance. Romance the state where emotion, devotion is emphasized over libido.
Vincent bringing Cat coffee, watching her sleep, making fun of her behavior while she sleeps, being intuitive to her needs, respecting who she is basically--foreplay. And what is more romantic than the classic rooftop and lights scene.
Espinela..interesting 'cause I watched the old series, and if your comparison is about passionate kisses--there was absolutely NONE in the old series. There was a lot of romance--longing looks, poetry, spending time together, holding hands, hugs (long) etc and Vincent could 'feel' when Cat was in danger (his Spidey sense, if you will). There was never a sex scene, nor as I said any kissing.
THIS!!!

I don't care what anyone else thinks. Being able to climb on top of a woman like that... um hello, so <edited>ing sexy. There was no restraint, no hesitation... I mean even if they said nothing else in that scene, that one move, and the WAY that he did it, and her reaction, told it's own story. Sometimes the HOT SEXY PASSIONATE stuff is hidden in the little moments, less obvious... like this one.
