I did a recap of the ep. SPOILERS AHEAD! (if you haven't watched)
These are just basically my thoughts/reactions:
Worth RecapLiked the change-up of the previouslies
Yay, Vincat scene right off the top. Catherine went to check on Vincent and see why he missed their dinner. Vincent was startled b/c he said he forgot to turn on the security system again. He was taking his blood pressure. He said he hadn’t been feeling well. Cat asked if that’s why he missed the date. He said yeah. She put together that he left the gift on the fire escape and that it was “very sweet”. (WHAT IS THE GIFT?) So she figured he must have seen her kissing Evan. He said she can kiss whoever she wants. Got awkward. He seemed to really be holding back—I guess not wanting her to know about the blackouts until he can figure them out.
Cat’s a flustered mess after Vincent gives her the semi-cold shoulder. Tess comments that she only does filing when there’s a guy problem. Cat talks about how complicated it is.
We met Cat’s dad. There is some dinner with the “step-thingie” as Cat and Tess call Cat’s step-mother-in-law-to-be. Evan appears and voila! Evan and Cat are set up to go to that dinner together. Evan is being very cute. He follows her out of the precinct and he says she kissed him…she says HE kissed HER. He says she’s blushing…and then he plays it off, says it’s one kiss. In other words, making it seem like Cat is the one making a big deal over one little kiss. He’s laying it on thick—very smooth. He gets in her personal space and she doesn’t seem to mind. It’s a kiss tease…no kiss. They’re sort of leaning up against the car.
This ep showed off a lot of areas of the precinct we haven’t really seen. They walked down halls and up stairs, and really utilized the set. I feel like the cop stuff was really starting to work in this ep. There was a scene where the detectives visited a crime scene and Evan was there as the M.E. obviously and I felt like I was watching a “real” (for lack of a better word) cop show. This show is really finding its stride and the supporting cast is phenomenal.
Tess and Cat keep talking back and forth about the mystery guy and Cat eventually tells Tess that she and Evan kissed. Cat can’t seem to figure out if it was nothing or a big deal.
J.T. was vid chatting with Sara- so very cute. Vincent seems so unaware/inwardly focused b/c, not only did Cat startle him when she arrived at the beginning of the ep, he just talks out loud to J.T. while J.T. is vid chatting. Sara’s like, “Who’s that?” And so the secrets and lies begin.
Vincent and J.T. talk about the black outs (after J.T. ends the vid chat), and the Evan/Cat kiss comes up again. J.T. is like wow you’re jealous. Vincent shrugs him off and says he might know how to figure out the blackouts. He has to find someone, but honestly, the details of this part were unclear to me. I need to see the ep again!
Cat and Tess were with the step-thingie (a young, pretty blonde) while Cat tried on dresses for the wedding (bridesmaids?). The first one was lime green and a disaster, but Cat did look a bit like Tinker Bell haha. The step-thingie ends up giving some decent advice about love that makes Cat think…but afterward, Tess and Cat see step-thingie being kissed by some dude.
This prompts Cat to nosily do a background check on step-thingie and realize she’s still married. Later, she points this out to her dad, but he already knew. Step-thingie is going through a bad divorce. The kiss was one-sided. The dad says he didn’t tell Cat b/c she is so judgy…that no one can be as good as her mom. Wow, don’t pull any punches dad, seriously. So, Cat’s having a roller coaster of feelings this whole ep.
Tess was awesomely fun and badass in an interrogation scene.
Cat getting dressed at her apartment-showed her zipping up her dress—showed her back!
Wow, and the dress was short—TWO scenes of KK legs! She’s in her bathroom doing jewelry or make-up or something and Vincent appears behind her-she can see him in the mirror. I can honestly say at this point, my blood pressure spiked. Wow.
Jay looked well beyond amazing in this whole ep and his hair OMG. Omg.
I just loved that he showed up in her apartment. She was all flustered and she blew him off completely! Her emotions were on overdrive and he was trying to explain, but she said they need to stick to working on cases together. She was doing total word vomit—like almost trying to convince herself I guess.
Soooo, the question is: Vincent, how long were you in the apartment and watching her? While she was zipping up her dress?
I love Vincent, but we have to admit he’s borderline creep-o.
Evan knocks on the door to take Cat to the dad dinner, but she has to go to an art gallery thing with Tess for her case. Vincent has disappeared from her apartment by now. She asks Evan if he knows anything about art..and he tags along to the gallery.
Vincent watches from the fire escape as Cat and Evan interact inside Cat’s apartment. His eyes glow orange-ish, like a mini-jealous-beast-out thing. It was HOT.
Vincent went to his old neighborhood to ask some guy if he knew something. I honestly could not keep track of that part of the ep, but the guy said Vincent was familiar and mentioned Vincen’ts dad’s name—said the dad lost 2 sons in 9/11 and one son (supposedly Vincent) in Afghanistan. Vincent gets all this emotion in his eyes—he is so expressive…but denies any knowledge or connection. Weird to see Vincent out on the street actually talking to someone. All I know is he was trying to figure out his blackouts.
At the art gallery, Tess jokes with Cat that her bridesmaids dress could have looked like the revealing dress that one girl was wearing. Evan checks that girl out and says he wouldn’t mind. Evan is joking and being flirty, but he does blatantly check out a few girls. Cat tries to figure out if he’s joking and it’s for show or if he really is a player. She mentions at one other point that he kisses a lot of girls. I suppose she’s meaning she doesn’t want to be just another of those girls.
Tess and Cat figure out that the paintings in the gallery sell for so much b/c the buyer doesn’t just get a random painting. He gets an escort for the night too. Cat interviews one sad-looking girl who was in love with the deceased artist. She was in love with the artist but thought he was a player.
Vincent appears and gets Cat’s attention. She goes to meet him and Evan sees her leaving with some guy. Vincent is being a lot bolder with his public appearances in this ep.
Cat’s like what are you doing here? He’s like….uh you said work on cases. He takes her to the deceased artist’s loft of wherever his collection is. There are a lot of paintings of that one sad girl who was in love with him. Funny-Cat took Evan to the gallery to see if he could help with anything artsy, but it’s Vincent who gives astounding insight into the artist’s mind. He points out the curve of the girl in the painting’s back—the lines used—the care. He says that the artist had to be in love with her. The scene is an obvious parallel to Vincat. The emotion between them is very high—Jay and KK can really bring it. Emotion sex ftw.
Jay amazes me more every week. KK’s had me wrapped around her finger since like 2002.
Evan asked Cat about who she was with at the gallery. She said she was interviewing some John…but Evan is too smart for that. He’s now seen her sneaking off with Vincent. Gasp! He said the guy (Vincent) wasn’t dressed like a dude at the gallery. I don't think Evan really saw his face or anything.
Evan asks her out again (back at the precinct) …she says raincheck. He says, very charmingly, that he’s patient. Their flirty banter seems to be back in play.
Oh there was some big gun scene climax moment where Tess and Cat had to do detective-y things and talk down the girl who was in love with the artist. She was about to shoot some other girl who was part of the “escort” ring of girls. But whatever.
Cat goes to visit her step-thingie trying on her wedding dress. She apologizes for the background check/tattling on her to her dad (about the kiss with her not-yet-divorced husband). They have a semi-nice moment, but I’m thinking there will be more development there.
Lovely Vincat last scene. They actually TALK like adults about their feelings. Jay is just………..I have no words. NONE! We get the title’s meaning as well as a face touch. I would honestly say more about this scene, but I was totally mesmerized so my memory went blank on it. It as incredible. Big payoff line: Cat to Vincent: “Who you are makes everything worth it.” *thud*
I’m going to watch this scene like 20 times in the morning and write more about it.
Vincent wakes up blacked out in the street. There was a sewer shot. The end was abrupt and confusing, but we’re supposed to feel that Vincent is getting worse with the blackouts, etc. Oh, yeah, there’s blood on his hands. Poor bb.
