Thanks Chymere, here just a biggest size of the pic c4.staticflickr.com/4/3951/15635843856_8205fd641d_k.jpgThis is my fav scene of BATB, the tunnel one, where Vinc grabs Cat on his arm and save her from the oncoming train... OMG.... then she realizes that HE is the ONE, the man/beast who saved her ten years before... OMG... when I re-watch the ep I'm still breathless at this scene this definitely was the moment when I was hooked by batb

I have also been watching since the Pilot (just HAD to watch it on account of having loved the original series so much). I was literally THAT excited to see it, but I was actually planning to hate it since it was a "remake" that I figured could not possibly live up to the original.
They actually had me at the point in the woods where Cat is staring at Vincent unafraid. And he is rooted to the spot, staring at her. Then it was the little things that kept occurring throughout the episode that just made me love it even more. Catherine instinctually KNOWING, somehow, that she can trust Vincent in the warehouse when she first (officially?) meets him. Her need to protect him, even then, without knowing anything more than the little he has been able to say. Even though she has her gun on him, she somehow knows that she can believe him about not having murdered the woman. Even though she has to lie to her cop partner of several years. Her seeing that Vincent has the newspaper article about her "beast" rescue, despite there being no reason that he should be aware of her that she knows of. Vincent always trusting Cat throughout this episode NOT to shoot him. He even kicks her gun back to her on the subway platform knowing that she won't shoot him, even though she wants to keep him there to get answers. His inability NOT to follow her due to his concerns for her safety before she had EVER said a word to him (because it is obvious, from his talk with JT early on, that he has just somehow felt the need to keep track of Cat DESPITE the passage of time). The way Vincent takes care of her after her knee was hurt on the subway platform. And how he can't help but open up to Cat about his time in Afghanistan, despite her being a cop. He trusts that she will do the right thing where Muirfield is concerned. The way they just LOOK at each other and then she touches his face in the warehouse. There is just that CONNECTION there, right from the start. That has somehow always been there, since that night in the woods. And how Vincent ALWAYS tries to chase her off BUT cannot bring himself to even fuss at Cat for revealing to JT that she and Vincent have met when Cat shows up dressed so beautifully. Vincent's look and words just SAY that Cat could have asked him to cut off his own arm in that moment, and he probably would have done so. Then his having to follow her, without her even knowing, as she attends her father's engagement party. And that way Cat has of coming towards the balcony and just being alone by herself, looking out into the city without really seeing it. You just know that she is thinking of Vincent in that moment, just as he can't remove himself from watching her and looking longingly at her in the party.
Yeah, I suppose you can see that I just loved BATB from pretty much the opening credits. The Pilot just never gets old (despite Jay Ryan having bad wigs and KK having the flu, thus sometimes making it hard to hear what Catherine was actually saying in certain scenes. And how many people do you know that can possibly look THAT good while having the flu? She's freaking miserable in real life YET still exudes that wonderful chemistry with Jay onscreen. Beautiful.).

Yes! Completely agree. That undeniable pull between the actors that is revealed in the woods when V saves Cat just keep pulling me throughout the whole episode and it became apparent by the subway scene, that I was a forever beastie and there was no turning back. Right before I found BATB, I found the original 80's version and I loved it for the most part and was intrigued by it and the story, but I thought that Linda & Ron lacked the chemistry and I didnt feel their connection was as believable as it couldve been, but I still loved the story and after that found the 2012 version, and I didnt have any expectations of it because it was a remake, but I was blown away by the end of the 1st episode. It exceeded my expectations and imo was 10x better than the 80's version. It felt more realistic, heart pulling, and the chemistry was just I couldnt take it. I couldnt take my eyes off of them, because the vibe and pull around them was that strong & even though I know it would be way too fast 4 VinCat & completely out of character for them, I was slightly disappointed when they didnt kiss in the 1st episode and every episode after that I was slightly disappointed without a kiss. But just the way that Jay & KK portrayed everything in the pilot, their body language, facial expressions, the way they looked at each other, both so vulnerable and ontop of that chemistry, I was sold! There was no going back from me

There was no going back from me I so agree with both your comments. I enjoy going back to the pilot from time to time and just watch the start of their journey. I have never looked back since then. And your comments about the 80's version of BATB are right on the money. I enjoyed watching it and the story and the connection btwn Catherine and Vincent was just OK for me and not out of this world like VinCat. Funny how my phone automatically recognises VinCat when I type Vi. I liked the 80's version and is one of the reasons I decided to check the new BATB and I can say that I like the current version way more. I ll now put on the pilot again and enjoy while I cast my votes.

Kern said vincat get together so soon i was like ( you must be kidding ? we waited a whole painful long months for the first kiss ?!!!!!!!! you know vincat and the show got me since the pilot too , i found it after they aired ep 7 accidentally in a site from my country for series and movies all over the world with Arabic subtitle , i usually found everything new in that site with good quality and small size too , so i don't have to search all over the international sites for something to watch especially if i want to watch something its original language i don't understand ( like Turkish for example) they usually translate every new serie when it first airs then continue if it has good number of viewers ( i guess we have our rating too lol ) no one would waste time in translating a serie no one watches it even if they watch it themselves but if they can make subtitle for it so that means they do understand it without the subtitle and no need to waste time and effort in subtitle ! usually i give any new serie 2 maximum 3 episodes to get my interest otherwise i quit it , usually the pilot of any serie is a little slow and boring but i can be patient 2 or 3 eps till it gets interesting , but with BATB i didn't have to wait ? like you since the scene in the wood they got my interest and the first ep finished before i noticed and in one night i watched the whole 7 episodes ! then i searched for ep 8 but i found that it already aired but no one translated it yet and a lot of people left reviews on the site asking for the new episode ( speaking of the rating ) but the site mods answered that the delay because the translators are busy with their life and other old projects ( all those people who make subtitles are volunteers btw) so i searched for the original ep , watched it then i said to myself ( why not ? be helpful and translate the episode for other viewers too ) so i did and i continued with the next eps because i got good reviews asking my to continue i know we are not counted in the rating but they should see the number of reviews i got in the subtitle site if i got late in posting the subtitle ?! in S2 they knew the eps aired in Canada on Sunday , so i got messages on Monday in the season premier asking for it , i replied that i have to wait for the English script which uploads only after the ep aired in USA , so every week they waited till Tuesday evening and if the subtitle isn't uploaded yet i greeted Wednesday morning with a lot of angry beasties reviews lol so i know from experience that even if the rating in USA isn't great but the show do very well overseas , my countries are example not just throw online watch but more than one of our famous TV network bought the serie and keep repeat airing it because my people like it

I am sure that it is a lot of work! I didn't find BATB til Feb, the first episode that I watched live was 2x12 or 2x13, but I was hooked from the very beginning. I remember staying up all nite Super Bowl Sunday just to catch up. I had never pulled an all nighter before I found BATB, but just couldn't get enough of it! Joined twitter the next day just to find out if I was that crazy with how much I loved the chemistry between jaystin. Had to know if I was the only one or if I was imagining it. Lol. No show has ever drawn me in the way BATB has and especially a pilot! That's one of the reasons I am always so devastated when the ratings/numbers for the show come out Bc I can't believe people don't see what we all see. Anyway The only thing I wasn't too crazy about in he pilot was the pesky voice over. Lol

Lol yes it's a lot of work especially because i was pregnant with Sara during the first season , but it was fun too , i enjoyed translating BATB and other series , i had a lot of funny interaction with the viewers throw the process but i was lucky and found a partner to share the work with my , therefore we usually finished the subtitle very fast , and we also cover for each other if one of us got busy with other things , i was really relieved because i hate to keep the viewers waiting if i get busy giving birth before the season ended lol and that is what happened but luckily only with the season final , Sara born 14 May 2013 , 3 days before the final ep aired , watching the ep was the first thing i did when i got home and was ok enough to use computer i share the same feeling toward the bold part but i was also very devastated when the storyline didn't work as i like in S2 would you believe me if i told you that some time i had tears when i was translating some of the very painful moments and lines ?! i was like : great as it isn't bad enough to watch this now i had to write it with my own language too ?! translating S1 was so much easier and funny ( except for the four eps with Alex of course ) and now i am looking forward for S3 and hope i won't have such a hard time translating it like some of S2 !

Given the recent discussion that has brought this thread back to life, I just had to watch the Pilot episode again. This episode just keeps getting better each time I watch it! Like others, I love the subway scene. The entire scene, starting with Cat's fight on the platform and ending in the "you're him" moment in the tunnel just as the trains rush by, is breathtaking and plays out so beautifully. It's become one of the many iconic moments within the series. raniamahd - That's so awesome translating the series for your native country. It must be a real labor of love. Kudos!

I watched the pilot with a friend last night after a really really long time and I am so happy to read that everybody had the same thoughts and feelings about the episode. That scene in the woods and the subway one and I was HOOKED. I also have to admit to there were moments where I thought : They cannot possibly kiss now, can they? It is too damn early. On the other hand, I completely understand the writers now and how they felt they HAD to put Vincat together earlier than any other couple on any other tv show. The pull, the chemistry, the looks - it was all too much. It was all so intense from the very first moment. The way Jay and Kristin so wonderfully portrayed the connection from the get-go, it could have not been ignored for more than a couple of episodes. It is so rare when something like this happens.

Ditto to everything everyone said......I also loved the final two scenes, when she comes to thank him for saving her, twice, and when he is looking at her from the rooftop and her hand in on the window pane.......after Pilot, I just set my TV to autoPILOT and said to myself: this show is going in the right direction, just guide us through all the turbulence that is to come to our final destination.......and I just hope it takes a long, long time to get there....as in at least 5 seasons.....we've made it to 3.....I'm not giving up hope yet!!!!!!

Its good to hear everyone's experience with the pilot and how many keep going back to the beginning and every time enjoy the experience all over again. This doesn't happen to me with a lot of shows and I do watch a lot of them. Which is one of the reasons I wish we could have more seasons to build on that collection of episodes because its actually good to have a feel good show you can go to when you just want to stay in and relax.
