It's been a while since I truly dealt in reviews, long ones BUT things change.
How do I begin? First and foremost after last weeks premiere episode I didn't have much expectation for this episode. To be truly honest I think that maybe this season Beast Of Wall Street is the cream of the crop for this year as Beast Is The New Black was for many last year or UNTIL this season finale. With that said we can't compare ONE with the OTHER. It isn't fair. Many have said that this show is about Drama, action, romance and angst, I partially agree with you BUT since this show's subject matter is sort of grim a little humor doesn't hurt. I think the writers tried to 'address' the characters faults through comedy rather then seriousness cause if you think about it the issues these two will face NOT by the threats surrounding them but within their relationship is mind boggling.
A few observations from my watch:
I think the writers were showing us the insecurities that BOTH characters face when the realization hits them that they are COMMITTING to each other.
The first scene as Vincent is bringing in the boxes and having Catherine question 'his' stuff, the fact that he 'wants' to have things in 'THEIR' apartment and Catherine being SELFISH is the idea here. Last season many fans didn't like the fact that Catherine was being pushy hence the outcome of the roof scene in KIDNAPPED. Catherine wants what she wants as Tess mentioned in the scene right after. This issue is HUGE for Catherine cause from her own admission she's never wanted the picket fence and all that jazz until Vincent. So even if she wants it now, she has to learn that it takes two to tango and not just by doing the
( sorry had to say it)
Vincent on the other hand, was engaged to Alex but going off to war and becoming a beast, I truly believe he didn't know what COMMITMENT truly was. Now he has also been with JT for over 10 years. All many stuff LOL so he too has to adjust not only to the COMMITMENT but to Catherine and her ways as well FULL TIME LOL, it's much easier to accept someones fault from far away, so I took that scene as though when he saw how demanding she was, he freaked out, hence having BEAST wanting come out to play.
As for the acting here, I thought it was a bit over the top BUT Vincent reminded me a few times of 'KEVIN' from Go Girls.
Catherine and Tess scene was as usual liked their chemistry as a team. Although I was glad that Tess called her out on being too pushy and always wanting what she wants without taking anything into consideration. Again this goes back to season 2 for me.
I loved loved the boys playing their video games, the talk between them was so MANLY.
Tess and JT and the brothers scene, liked that a lot, I'm guessing being the only girl and a cop the brothers would pick on her. Loved that JT defended her BUT a big BUT, I don't like JT and T as a couple LOL, I feel their relationship is 'forced'..No chemistry as a couple IMO
I'm a Sci-Fi type of gal, X-Files, Terminator movies and such so when I saw 'electric man's' gift I was like "HOW COOL!!" LOL
I understood the dude even though he killed someone, I felt sorry for him in the end. (great acting BTW the guy was real good)
Heather and Vincent and that SHOWER scene, okay I knew that HEATHER would be the one in the shower and Vincent walks in on her thinking it was Catherine so it didn't surprise me. As for the acting LOL Once again Vincent reminded me of KEVIN from Go Girls LOL his expressions, his surprise, his apology, his embarrassment of seeing Heather! Loved the expressions. Nicole did a great job too LOL, I knew she and her boyfriend were toast since last season LOL
I loved the banter between Vincent/Heather, Vincent/Catherine and Heather while V was on the phone. That was too funny.
Loved Catherine and Vincent working together at that warehouse. Catherine knows something is going on with Vincent but as usual Vincent doesn't want to tell her, he wants to get the bad guy. I love the special effects on the 'electricity thingy the man did to get away from them. Again sci-Fi buff here.
VinCat car scene, again I thought it was funny, especially when Heather calls, LOL , VIncent knew as soon as he heard Heather that he was in DEEP POOP!! LOL, The interactions with Heather and Catherine and trying to explain everything was funny. Especially the line that Heather said "This is a bad time isn't it?" And VinCat in sinc say Vincent : "YES!" Catherine : "NO!" and they look at each other LOL
By the time they hang up with Heather he has to explain to her his "ISSUE" of course Catherine didn't take it well and makes a sharp turn that throws Vincent against the passenger car window LOL.. Can you say "MAD?" But they know that those issues have to wait they have to save JT
Bad dude after JT and JT making a serum, reminds me of the Gabe fiasco LOL I hope it doesn't backfire on JT in the long run. I thought the interaction at the hospital was very well played by Austin and the actor.
The Vincent/Catherine/Tess scene at the hospital was great! I loved how Catherine had doubts about Vincent being able to control himself and TESS on the other hand was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt. She told her to trust him. Catherine of course said she couldn't cause they both had to much to lose.
Vincent fights electric man, Once again , I love the fight sequence, loved the make up on Vincent this season, it looks more 'real'. Of course the fight ended when Catherine 'talked them both down' .
Okay so the part above of Catherine always bringing Vincent down is repetitive but I am beginning to think there is a REASON for that. Which I will not go into cause it's a episode thread and it can't be written as per spoiler or possible spoiler LOL
The Cat in the hospital corridor scene was nice, LOVED the way that Catherine touched his face!! (LOVED WHEN SHE DID THAT IN SEASON 1 AND NOW)
Loved how she said, "See you at home?" and he replied "Yeah, see ya at home."
Agent Thomas scene with Vincent was ONE clue as ONE of the story lines. We know JT and his miracle drug can be a problem for them in the long run, what is it? What will happen to JT if anything? That's a continuing storyline.
The final scene with Tess and JT, It felt like a friend staying over to play video games. AGAIN no romantic chemistry between those two. To long of a scene for me.
the final scene Cat and Heather, LOVED it LOL very to heart and right to the point on Catherine's part. Love the sister bond ( I was ONE who loathed HEATHER but she's truly grown on me) Love the kiss on the cheek she gave Vincent, (yes in my country we kiss people on the cheek too)
The final scene gave me hope, both expressing their fears and trying to move forward. This is what a HEALTHY relationship needs to thrive. They admit they have a long way to go and Catherine shows HIM she's willing to compromise to make the relationship work. Vincent promises to be more open about his fears. Relationships are a FULL TIME JOB LOL take it from someone who has been in one for 40 years. It isn't easy and that's just 'normal' people let alone a man who is half beast LOL cut them some slack!
The fact that Agent Thomas died means he indirectly stumbled upon something ..they wouldn't have killed him if he didn't He just didn't know it.
My Beastie Buddies had a COW with this episode, most of them at least BUT I truly enjoyed it. I mean this isn't Beast Of Wall Street after all and that's okay cause sorry folks THAT episode is the Best they come! Very few will top that ONE ever! That one is up there with Bridesmaid Up, Tough Love and AMP.
On a closing note: Anything I get from this show is a PLUS, we've been through a lot since season one and always in the bubble. Season 2 was rough and in many instances hard to watch ANCESTORS LOL but I have passed that stage and look forward to the rest of these characters journeys, I am so honor to experience it with them and YOU.
Now I look forward to next episode
