This was an AHHH MAAAZZZ ING episode!! It had just the right amount of humor, drama, warmth, and action!!! I need... no want... to watch it over and over and over and over!!!!! So in a quick nutshell, VinCat actually went to the Marriage Counselor for themselves, and not for undercover reasons. It starts off with them at the Counselor's office and does flashbacks to what caused them to seek help. It seems that Catherine just can't let go of trying to look for weird cases. It just so happened that the wealthy heart transplant recipient to be, was going to be getting the heart of someone who had appeared to have committed suicide, by using a drill, to put a hole in her forehead. Of course, this IMMEDIATELY caught Cat's attention. So long story short, Cat nags Vincent to death about trying to get more info on the case. She goes to Tess, to get permission to investigate it. Tess finally worn down, agrees to let her do it, so long as it doesn't come back to bite her in the a$$. (Tess that is). While bugging Vincent on the phone about the case, he tells her that it seems that all they ever talk about is cases, and that they don't have any together time. Soooo.. Cat agrees for them to go out on a fancy dinner date. Of course unbeknownst to Vincent, the place Catherine has picked out, is not by coincidence. It seems that the heart recipient to be is there with his younger trophy wife.

Ok so scratch that... upon a second viewing, it was Vincent who suggested the place they go for their date. Just by coincidence, it was some sort of fancy, smancy fundraiser, that the transplant recipient was going to be attending. Anyway.. Cat winds up giving the transplant victim another heart attack with all her insinuations and questions re: how he came to know who his donor was, etc.
Next thing you know, it's time for the transplant to take place. The donor is pronounced dead, the heart is placed in the cooler, and there is a time limit of 4 hours for the heart to still be usable. But of course nothing goes as planned... the heart is stolen, and once again Team VinCat have to figure out the 5 W's(who, what, where, when and why), of the stolen heart. They bicker about it, decide to go their separate ways, and wind up at the same place. This is where we see Cat inadvertently calling Vincent "scum". They decide to team up after talking things over.. and this is why they decided to go see a counselor.
Vincent's beastly senses alert him to the scent of even more blood(which is why he couldn't detect the heart, because all he could smell was blood); turns out there was the heart thief, dead in the dumpster. Vincent uses his beastly senses once again, and traces blood to a nearby building, which turns out to be a meat packing plant. He detects the heart in the freezer. They go in together and naturally, get locked in by someone. This scene was hands down, probably one of my most favorite ones of the episode, with the ending being the absolute best part of all!! OK seriously... Jay and Kristin had such funny lines to work with, and they just KILLED it!! I loved, loved, LOVED when Cat is telling Vincent to "Beast out".. and he's all ... ummm.. didn't you tell me that you were tired of trying to talk me off the ledge, etc., etc.? And have you not seen how thick the door is? To which she's all like.. well honey, now's not really the time to talk about this... I don't want to freeze to death! So, could you please beast out? So he does, and well, it's not enough... so she tells him to go into "Full Beast mode"! So he does, and busts the door down. They then realize that they work better together.
Next thing you know, they're on the way back to the hospital, and Catherine just can't let go of the nagging feeling, that something wasn't right with the transplant guy's wife. She calls the counselor up, asks him once again about Co-dependency relationships, (of which he said they had), and Vincent is frustrated cause she is like a dog with a bone about the case.
Anyway, they come to the realization, that the Transplant recipient's wife, doesn't want him to have the heart. When they get to the hospital, Vincent gives the heart to the waiting team, and next thing you know, the power goes off in the middle of the surgery. She decides to go get the Trophy wife and convinces Vincent to go help with the surgery, using his Beastly vision. She is really encouraging of him, and tells him he can help, even though he is worried cause he's not a surgeon. Just as they're about to split up, he tells her to go "kick her a$$!!". Once again.. yet another favorite scene of mine!!

So.. we see Trophy wife, who is down in the basement with the generators, and paid henchman, telling him to cut all the power. She is P.O'd cause after 20 years with Transplant guy, he's giving all his money away to some foundation. This does not make her happy. She wants to see him dead. She tells bad guy, that if this gets traced back to her, she will makes sure it gets traced back to him. So... enter Catherine, fight ensues, and she manages to kick a$$ and take name, but Trophy wife gets away. Eventually T.W. is found at JFK, trying to get away. Tess is happy that the case is closed, but she has a serious, kind of "Come to Jesus" meeting with Catherine. Tells her that she can't keep covering up for her anymore, that that is how Joe lost his job. That while they may be best friends, she is now her boss, and she has to respect that. Catherine acknowledges that, but now I think I see, how this is going to come into play in a future episode, and how it will have repercussions for Catherine. Anyway... Catherine tells Tess to call JT.. cause he's miffed at Tess. He felt that no one cared about him. So, she goes off to see him, they have a heart to heart. Blah, blah.. she tells him how much she cares for him, etc., etc. Sigh.. once upon a time in a far, far away galaxy, I shipped JTnT. Sadly.. even after the sweet scene of their heart to heart, and their ending romantic kissing scene... I no longer feel the love of the two. I just can't seem them as anything but super close friends anymore. There's just no chemistry.. at all. So cut to final and the BEST scene of the evening... VinCat in bed together at the end of the day. Window is open, Cat is wearing her flannel shirt. She worries about the window being open, and asks Vincent if he's awake, and if so would he close the window. He sighs and asks why. She tells him, that she's worried about Bob and Carol. He tells her that it's been two weeks and they haven't seen hide nor hair of the super power couple, and doesn't think they have anything to worry about. She playfully swats him,(seriously.. this was just too cute and seemed like such a natural reaction!). He tells her that he knows how to take her worries off her mind. He proceeds to show her, and she tells him that it's a good start. :children:He of course continues with his Rx and throws the cover over them. End of show.... So... forgive my shorthand recap. I know I missed a lot of details.. including the funny JT moment. He is trying to figure out his super healing ability. Calls Heather out to come help him. Next thing you know, he's at the top of the stairs, asks Heather (on the phone.. we don't see her in this ep.), if she's there. He tells her he'll be down in a minute. Literally.... throws himself down the flight of stairs, after packing his glasses away in his pocket. Next thing you know, he's down on the floor, moaning and groaning. All I can say is that, who ever the writers were for this episode, got the right blend for humor, action, drama, and romance. This episode is right behind 3X01 in being my favorite. It was just everything and then some!! Loved, loved, loved the counseling scenes! It made total sense for them to see a counselor.. just cannot rave enough about this episode!!!

I've just finished watching the episode and I have to say that at first sight it doesn't give me much, except that every charcater finally undestand its own issues and the fact that they need to be together to overcome anything will happen. But maybe Vincent finally understand that if he wants to make Cat shut up on cases he needs to involve her in something... more interesting like a "fight" under the cover :-)

everything about cat tonight made me no one made a big deal abt jt sudden healing power, especially vin. i also dont understand how solving this case is gonna keep vin go primal. also if big bad is doing some sorta enhanced heart transport operation , he must have more efficient ppl than that baldhead. if u r gonna write a big bad he is gotta be terrifying or deadly(note : daredevil and person of interest). not some men who can go down in 2 kicks.. after a good last ep this is the kinda ep which makes me

I really liked the episode, well, the truth is that I'm enjoying a lot the third season. The blend of drama, humor, action, love ... for me is perfect. Obviously, I never have enough when they are and , you know but I understand that they can't be so throughout the episode and every episode. Anyway, I love how much Catherine and Vincent speak, even if it is arguing

I too felt it was a good episode. Fast paced, lots of things happening, pushing the story forward. The VinCat relationship seems to be maturing and developing, and they're a couple with "unique" couples issues, but in the end they ARE still a couple and need to identify and sort out their issues, especially their co-dependency. This can be both a strength and a weakness in any relationship as close as theirs, so it's good that they have been helped to recognise this, and also learnt to use it to their advantage (loved the freezer scene! ) I guess maybe if some viewers are more caught up in the epic romance and want to see more of such beats in the show, then the last few episodes were disappointing, especially after S03E01. But I liked that VinCat finally got to make out at the end of the episode! We haven't seen that since the proposal! So I think the writers will show that their relationship now is healing and probably even stronger than before since they now have self awareness. Thinking back to what Carol said last week, her advice was good : Don't lose your individual selves in a relationship! The next few weeks are going to be really exciting, given what we know so far about them, leading up to episode 8 . And can I add that JR and KK had both great lines as well opportunities to expand their range in this episode, rather than having the constant doom and gloom expressions in several of the past episodes we've seen. They do humour quite well!

I'm not sticky with the epic love so the lack of it in this first 4 episode of S3 is not a problem for me. Maybe I haven't understand all the funny dialogs so it seems to me that VinCat are always arguing in a bad way... I'll probably change my review once the episode with subtitle will be publish but... 1) I was against that marriage councelor from the beginning and the full episode doesn't changed my mind: I mean, I understand that when the two of them doesn't want or doesn't understand the importance of sitting face to face without a timer or an upcoming danger, the only way is to find somone that can oblige them to face their demons, but I'd rather prefer to see Heather, JT, Tess or all the team to block them and help them to speak to each other open hearted
2) In this episode I think Vincent, Cat and Tess are a little bit selfish: poor JT, he is getting really mad about the serum and its side effect and nobody (but Heather in a phone call) is there to help him or at least ask how is going. They only call to ask him for their own purpose.
3) Vincat in the freeze: Guess who is the boss in the couple? Cat obviously! I loved that now Vincent cries aloud his reasons, but he has to stop waiting for Cat to give him the permission to beast out or not depending on how much is convenient for her. In this case I loved more Vincent 2.0 because in his anger was able to convey rage and strong (erotic) vibrations. Now he seems to me more a puppy dog that can bark but doesn't bite or bite on command.
After taht, I'm waiting for a lighter version of the last 2 minutes from one of our video maker... just for entertainment :-)
