There are numerous technical reasons why the video quality might vary in brightness depending upon how you receive it. In broadcast, or cable distribution systems, and even with the setup of your own monitor/TV. I'm sure it looks fine to Stu Gillard when they review it. I don't think we can really blame anything on the production end. It doesn't help that most of the tones of this show are very muted and very neutral. Cat's apartment and the houseboat are/were bordering on creepy looking in this aspect. :)
Also, you may experience considerable lipsync issues depending upon how you receive your TV. Audio and video route differently and when they finally converge time delays can become noticeable. In my case the video level of this episode was good, but most CW shows are nearly unwatchable unless I add 0.5 second delay to the audio. :)

Yes your correct on that ..a lot of the times when I make a clip there's always an auto delay. I have to adjust my program for it.

When the episodes start showing us how the characters are feeling instead of telling us, I will be a happy camper. Writers need to lighten up on Catherine's dialogue....she has verbal diarrhea, at times. Agree with this 100%

It should be burned along with the robe and with Cat's flannel pajamas lol This! Burn 'em. I get that it's her comfort clothes and a connection to her mom. But "mom" is the last thing V should be thinking about during

I want to know more lol Oh and to make u feel better the ep5 trailer looks very promising and very different from ep4 The trailer for 305 at the end was probably the most exciting part of 304 for me. LOL! Nick Roman's review captures pretty well how I felt about this episode. I also agree with many of the points raised by lovebatb, @locaxbatb, and @dave. While S3 is definitely different from S1 or S2, I was really enjoying the comic book action fun of eps 1, 2, and 3. I thought 303 was a terrific episode. I couldn't wait for this episode, as I thought it would build on the momentum of of ep3. I had high hopes with a title like "Heart of the Matter" that we would finally start to unravel the mystery behind the experiments and the season would kick into high gear or take an unexpected twist. I had expected that perhaps a real danger or threat to VinCat would start to emerge. I got none of that. Instead this episode was yet again very different. The case of the week reminded me of an early S1 case of the week kind of episode but without the VinCat magic. Instead of epic love, there was epic arguing. All the jibber-jabber and Cat's pushy behavior was a real turn off for me. I know I'm in the minority in that I like Ancestors. That episode had VinCat at odds with each other too, but I felt their banter had raw sexual tension and a sexual energy that I did not feel here. In this episode the arguing just left knots in my stomach. This is not the VinCat I want to see. Moreover, I was very disappointed that the rich guy in need of heart was just a bit player in the case of the week. Having learned from those who followed the original '80s show that the actor was the original Gabe Lowen, I also had high hopes for his character. I thought the heart was going to transform him into another evil superhuman and that he'd have some kind of role moving forward. That didn't happen either. It's not like I hated this episode. It had its good moments too. But I felt this episode was so different from anything I've seen before and didn't really add much to the developing story of S3. thank u got it this episode gave me more feels than 2 or 3 but that does not change the fundamental issue this season as per the ew guy's summary above and what others are also saying i wont go into more detail cause i've voiced my views before in the description of previous episodes and above having watched the ep5 trailer i am much more hopeful both in terms of plot development and also the characters being more true to themselves - anyway we shall see!

When he lived alone he never did. Having waited so long to finally be together, they should both be sleeping naked and doing it like rabbits every night. Just sayin...

Hmmm. I didn't think it was overly negative. Actually, she voiced a lot of my concerns where Catherine is concerned. I thought her rhetorical question "Speaking of his abilities, who else was surprised that everyone knows about them?" was ridiculous though. It's been obvious that situations occur off screen for quite some time now, and we know Team Vincat doesn't keep secrets from each other. So, no. I wasn't surprised.

I agree with this one as well. "Contrived conflict." Yep.

I really wanted a deep dialogue or a more passionate scene between Vincat Always, yes always. This episode was lighter than that but still OK.To me, we are getting caricatures of the real thing, and I want the real thing! it's as if they are usurpers, pretending to be VinCat, and at times, for some brief seconds, they get it right, but the rest of the time, they fail to fool me. I think this is the fundamental issue beneath all the other complaints @locaxbatb In a way it is a tribute to S1 and Sherri & Jennifer, who truly knew what they were doing. As @dave said:"the rawness and realness of the show is no longer there." ... S1 had a magic quality to it that hasn't existed since But still we have a season here, finally underway and many pleasures to be enjoyed.Writers need to lighten up on Catherine's dialogue....she has verbal diarrhea, at times. I remember moaning on and on about that all during S2. There were episodes where it seemed Cat had four times the dialog as anyone else and delivered at machine-gun speed.Instead of epic love, there was epic arguing. All the jibber-jabber and Cat's pushy behavior was a real turn off for me Sure, but that's the point. And I still say the couples therapy theme was hilarious.Having waited so long to finally be together, they should both be sleeping naked and doing it like rabbits every night... Amen that, brother.

Another review/recap, slightly more positive. www.tvrepublik.com/2015/07/recaplette-beauty-and-beast-s3e4-heart.htmlLots of varying opinions among the websites and even in our forums. Like I said earlier, it was an entertaining standalone episode, but I guess we'll have to wait for more info on the supercharged human experiments in the next few episodes. And what about Cat's family heritage and the whole "mythological mystery"? I wish like some other (admittedly more popular) shows that the actors/writers/directors would do interviews after the episode airs, to explain the thoughts and rationale behind what we see on screen. It would help to clear up some of the questions we all seem to have and also give us better insight and appreciation of the story that has unfolded so far.
