I just did a rewatch and I think there's a deleted scene missing that could explain why Heather thinks she's part of the destiny.
Heather and Cat arrive together at the Ellingsworth's fund raiser event, Heather is all dressed up like Cat, but only Cat goes in. Later, after Cat got in trouble and was taken away by the Ellingsworth's security, Tess is shown escorting both Cat and Heather at the police station after bailing Cat out.
If you watch that scene when the three of them are walking down the hall at the station, Heather's furry coat has a torn left shoulder/sleeve and her hair looks a bit tussled compared to how it was nicely pulled back in the car with Cat. It seems to me like Heather had her own adventure (i.e. the deleted scene) at the charity event and got into some kind of scuffle there too, which caused the rip in her coat.
I think Heather might have seen something there at the event that could have connected her directly into the mythology. Because right after that at the police station is when Heather tells Tess she's involved not only because she's Cat's sister but she's got a role in the destiny thing too.
Guess we'll never know if I'm right about my deleted scene hunch until the S3 DVD comes out.

Okay let's keep our eyes open for more clues!

Beasties did anyone notice the photo behind Heather in the end of the episode right after V suggested they go for a walk and C asked H to let her know if Tess calls. I'm no computer genious so I don't know how to zoom in on it, but I guess some of my beloved Beastiesisters (and brothers) can help here. It must be a photo of VinCat (at least I hope so) and I'd love to see it clearly. So, pleaaaaaase can anyone zoom in on it and give us a still? Pretty pleaaaaaaase The photo behind Heather is this one from KK's public Instagram account http://instagr.am/p/Q-nUSFhmJj

I was expecting her to be more involved in the Museum scene and wondered if they had edited out Heather's stuff or rewritten it, but since her coat was ripped and the H & C car scene is cut just as it looks like Cat is having a thought, they probably did film some version of her scene which had her acting as the victim of a purse snatching to distract the security guards.

Okay let's keep our eyes open for more clues! I'm really curious as to why Heather thinks she now has a role in the destiny. Liam seemed to know who Heather was at the start of the ep when he surprised Cat & Heather at Il Cantuccio. But Liam seemed to have no idea who Cat and Vincent were when he first crashed their wedding. Now Liam knows Vincent is a beast, but is there a connection with the Keller family that links back to the times of 1854? And does Liam actually know that Cat is a descendant of his lost love Rebecca? It doesn't seem like he does yet, but he seems to know who Heather is. So I'm intrigued about what Heather's connection might be, if she really has one. Obviously her mom created the modern day beasts. But does either Vanessa or Thomas Chandler's ancestors have a connection as well? I hope the writers don't go crazy with the mythology and make it like everyone had a link to the past, that would be going overboard.

So.. without giving anything away, some of those questions will be somewhat answered on Thursday's ep. What I will say however, that isn't a spoiler, but just a thought I have, is that Liam knows that Catherine and Heather are sisters. I think he was just doing that to threaten Catherine.. to insinuate that he knows who her loved ones are and he is not afraid to go after them. That no one is safe from him. Just my two cents' worth of an opinion.

BeastieBoy, if they were to present this premise as part of our story as long as this possible connection is plausible I'll ride with it. I'll give the writers a chance. But I'm going to agree with and am thinking along the same lines that texasscotian is!

BeastieBoy Catherine's tweet shows that they did film the scene setting up Heather as the purse snatching victim.

Can you take a photo of them with your phone and post? That's my mobile scanner of choice. Thanks for sharing those in advance! I have been trying to acquire a batb script for ages as a souvenir of this journey, but its proven much more difficult than expected.
