Hello My Beasties! I love that my instincts had already told me the Liam was a Beast not just enhanced! Again I have a strong sense that Liam is a descendant of the beast that taunted Alistair and I really hope that I am right! Hooray! Our VinCat are embarking on their destiny in the footsteps of Rebecca and Alistair! This time that have a strong team to support them in JT, Tess and our newly grown-up Heather! I expect that the action should be escalating from here on out and I'm holding on for the ride. I have craved the reveal regarding the Gem, VinCat's enviable relationship and the story of Rebecca and Alistair and Rebecca's diary! Yes you called it right about Liam being a beast, I think you maybe right too about Liam being related to Alistair's nemesis. However, there's one easy way to defeat Liam - the Gem! We've not seen it yet this season, but I'm sure Cat still has it. Like most, I thought this was a terrific episode. Lots of action and suspense. Moreover, just the right touch of VinCat given the circumstances. I'm actually worried about them now. BeastieBoy, you are my true Beast buddy! I am so excited you are on my team regarding this aspect as well as this episode! Yes, for goodness sake Cat bring out the Gem and the journal! Maybe this will be where Heather will really shine by bringing out needed aspects regarding Rebecca's journal and the Gem! I am absolutely desperate for the next episode. Thursday where are you???

LOVED this one! And can I add, I am now liking the Slow Reveal that has occurred over the season. This season, the writers/showrunners have gone for the ups and down of an investigation with false starts and leads and even the question of just WHY VinCat has to be involved to begin with. And BOTH Vincent and Catherine now realize, with this episode, of just WHY they have to be involved.
I also LOVE how they showed that Cat just has these "feelings" or instincts that have unerringly guided her in a particular direction. (And to me, this is also a mini-nod to the original series, since although Vincent had the extrasensory abilities to "sense" Catherine and her emotions, it ended up causing a similar affect for Catherine, who could sense when Vincent was in trouble.) She just KNOWS instinctually that the hospice fires ARE related, and she has an innate drive and need to investigate where her instincts lead her. (Again, like others before me, you see the obvious nod to Alistair/Rebecca, as Rebecca was an Investigator as well, even having asked to be of assistance to Scotland Yard due to her recognized abilities---I mean after all, a woman of THAT TIME would not have gotten such recognition if she hadn't been darn good at the job!)
Here, there almost seems to be an increasingly symbiotic relationship between VinCat, with the two finding it NECESSARY to work together due to CAT'S instincts and Vincent's abilities and beast sense. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this combination, with both contributing AND ESSENTIAL to the investigation AND pursuit of the ultimate big-bad.
And it is interesting to note Liam's comments on suffering. You get the feeling he WAS suffering from some affliction that drew him to Julianna. So my question is whether it was for a Medical need or a Power need? Or both? And he is a Beast with apparent ties to no one, so he has become like Gabe, just after the POWER. So did he come to Julianna to get help for a medical condition OR did he lie about everything in order to get the serum enhancements for POWER alone? Hopefully, we will get more backstory next episode.
A longer season would have given us more of a chance to learn about Russell, Julianna and Liam. Because I feel we FINALLY have worthy individual bad guys that I would be vested in learning more about.
OVERALL, the VinCat interaction with this one was as Arwenfan described it. You really see how well Vincent and Catherine lean on each other to 1) process the guilt they feel in not realizing earlier at different points of the season that this was their destined fight, 2) investigate the matter, 3) put the pieces of the puzzle TOGETHER in order to remain alive AND save JT as well as confront Liam, and 4) comfort one another and rejuvenate one another in order to continue the good fight.
And I TRULY LOVED how we saw the STRENGTHS of BOTH of VinCat. It took BOTH of them to figure this out--Cat was RIGHT about the hospice fires AND the fact that Liam was trying to draw out someone else while Vincent figured out that Liam had already found Russell and left the bomb so that there was time to escape. The only time VinCat NEARLY lost everything was when they SEPARATED--Cat to be with Russell and Vincent to track Liam. Ended up being the catalyst for Russell and Liam to nearly wreck the whole thing through their independent actions. SO I LOVED THAT VINCAT are DESTINY because of their OBVIOUS abilities to work together for good AND for epic love.
My only complaint (and I hesitate to even use that word as I REALLY enjoyed this episode overall , but I can't come up with a better one) was in what I would have MOST wanted to see from the final scene. While I realize some people would scold VinCat for taking a bedtime moment in the midst of a crisis, I would have loved to have seen the two become passionate before fading to black. I mean, even in the BATB first book, the author had Vincent argue that they NEEDED to reconnect rather than just sleep before heading back out into the fray due to the fact that their love and passion just naturally rejuvenates them. So you don't need to have Vincent head off alone to the bedroom for a shower and sleep while Cat keeps thinking/working. They HAVE to sleep, obviously, and reconnecting in THAT WAY just makes sense as well. So I wanted and needed JUST that bit more. BUT I get why they DIDN'T go that direction given that some might have complained that the two were ignoring their duties.

NOTE before Reading the Following Post: The following post is about CATHERINE and her character. I FREELY acknowledge that I adore Vincent as well and that it takes them BOTH. I am not ignoring his contributions, which are great, to this episode and season, BUT my arguments/comments are regarding CAT.
With the above said, I will also add that I agree with DAN in spirit as to the following for Cat:
I have LOVED how the writers have shown Cat to be so DRIVEN and CONFIDENT in her instincts throughout this season. All leading up to this episode, which I thought was a VALIDATION of Cat's ACTIONS THROUGHOUT this season. 310 really brought so much of Cat's character and motivations forward for me and just WHY she has acted as she has this season.
Even though she HAD to run roughshod over the feelings of others at times AND even when others doubted that there was a need. She trusted in HERSELF. And that is a quality that people SHOULD appreciate, in my opinion. Whether you are male or female.
I often felt that had Cat not been female, the criticism of her character this season would have been far less. Many felt she did not take Vincent's feelings into account at times. However, when you examine the cases and REASONS for Cat's motivations, she turns out to be universally RIGHT throughout the season. She was ASSERTIVE when she needed to be and even risked her relationship(s) when she felt an instinctual DRIVE and NEED to investigate.
YET YOU also SEE IN THIS EPISODE how she is quick to COMFORT VIncent when he is down on himself for not listening to Cat and seeing the need earlier [and just add again--I KNOW Vincent is also EQUALLY quick to comfort Cat as well. I'm NOT trying to dismiss or downplay Vincent's involvement. This is just my post/argument as to CAT in this episode, which is a culmination of the build-up of the season]. So the sweeter side of Cat and her empathy has ALWAYS been there, but Cat has tended to FOCUS on getting a task done rather than always taken the time to soothe egos this season, and I feel she has taken a beating from fans as a result. YET Cat's motivations have been true and instincts correct. And how else could she have gotten it done rather than MAINTAINING the course and bulldozing fullthrottal to get things done.
And you SAW how much it personally affected Cat to be on the opposite side of Vincent and Tess this season. She was absolutely agonized when she thought she had hurt Vincent and their relationship in 301. And the case would sometimes take precedence over her or Vincent's emotional needs, as happened at Niagara Falls. But even then, she was right in having a plan to "lure" Julianna's guy out. TO ME, and this is JUST MY OPINION--so please don't take offense but read to understand my argument for Cat--many people singled out Cat and seemingly bashed her character as a whole for things that NO ONE would have faulted a male for doing. I LIKED that Cat took on what was the "typical male" roll that sometimes found it necessary to quash emotions when they got in the way of helping others and accomplishing the mission. Whether you like it or not, OBJECTIVITY is necessary for soldiers and officers in order to get the job done. They can't just stop what they are doing because it might hurt their colleague's feelings or take time from their significant other.
Because you DO see in this episode how Cat's ultimate objection and desire is to be with Vincent in every sense of the word, which means Marriage to them both. She pauses to finger the bride/groom statuette in such a loving sweet way. Yet quickly stops her actions in order not to hurt/distract Vincent when he comes in. Which shows her softer, sweet side without compromising her intelligence, drive, motivation, and commitment to her case. And I like how Cat calls Vincent out at times YET SUPPORTS him and TRUSTS him while acting on a case in this episode.
So LOVED LOVED LOVED this one for how I saw Cat in this episode AND for how it made me see her ENTIRE conduct for the season. I still believe that the writers are building to a point where we see CAT has certain INSTINCTS and abilities that make Vincent's and her success ultimately ESSENTIAL to the resolving of the conflict. No matter his beast abilities, what WILL be the thing that allows them to overcome Liam WILL be Cat in conjunction with Vincent. Meaning Beast couldn't get the task done alone, no matter if Julianna HAD enhanced Vincent.
Just my three cents worth in defense of Cat being justified in being the STRONG, assertive female that she has been this season. Just from the posts that I have read (and that is by NO MEANS all--JUST my opinion here!) I think her character has taken more of a beating from fans than anyone else this season. But I have ENJOYED Cat's journey this season, including the painful moments. Because NO ONE can act through pain as well as joy better than KK, so I LOVED the way Cat was presented in this particular episode.

Liam is just damn scary. I have no doubt he will kill Vincent if they meet again because he may be a beast, but he is also extremely amped up. I have a bad feeling that someone is going to die this season. It was only a matter of time before JT started with the nose bleeds since all the other test subjects had them. Also nice reveal with Julianna's brother and his part in all of this. Loved the hug between Cat and Tess. For the first time EVER, I felt the bond between them. I think Liam is tracking them somehow when they get the nosebleeds. I think the first person (no idea about his name) had the nosebleeds and Liam was tracking him. Only after the first person was killed, the second person (don't remember his name either) got the nosebleeds when Liam started tracking him and only after he dies, Liam moved on to track JT and that's when he got the nosebleeds. Not sure how but he probably makes their noses bleed somehow to get blood out to be able to track them better. I'm surprised that it has not been discussed here before. It was the first thought I had. of course I might be wrong. Interesting observation! I'm really interested to see how JT's nosebleeds develops and what that means for him. FYI - The first person's name was Alton, same guy from ep 2 & 9 with electro powers. The second guy's name was Russell, Julianna's brother. I liked his character, if he had been in more episodes I would have felt more sorry to see him killed off. And even though he was only in this one episode, I still felt kind of sorry for the way he died.

Typing as I watch/as I go... Okay, hmm, wondering about complaints as of late. Cat's in a cute, low-cut sweater, Vincat kiss in the first scene, so... Haha just my observation. To each his own. Then came the convenient change of clothes for V. I did dig the collar pop. V said "With all due respect" to Cat. That's funny to say to your fiancée. JT.........I don't wanna be mean, but I just can't bring myself to care, at least in the beginning of the ep... sorry. Who is that bad guy? Was he on Gossip Girl or something? Idk.. ~ bad guy casually blows up patient ~ V dressed like JT Nice ivy cap. "He's not gettin' you." Aw, Tess. Patient X is a major X-Files ep, so that's what I kept thinking about, tbh. So the beasts can sense each other. And the serum people are all dying. So they used the ol' wild animals hunting on TV metaphor for Liam hunting JT and others. Then they have to explain it to the audience through JT whining. That's top notch writing right there...... (Like every show has used this. You don't have to explain it. We get it). V's strong feelings are perplexing to me. I don't understand where they're coming from or why he's so gung ho about them. It's not like he was in the previous eps. Though one can certainly change his mind. It's like Liam was scrambling all his senses. Nose bleed guy has some great floppy hair. Dang V is alllll riled up. Liam is hard core with this Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom killing. Plus explosives. Liam, that's overkill. Why is your hair so badddd? Beast fight was brutal! Aw JT nose bleed. Ah, okay, Vincent explained himself, or at least tried to. It's like the other beast is throwing his senses way off. Idk if it has some kind of instinct or dominance thing to it. I didn't like how abrupt he was, but he is part beast after all. I'm glad he apologized. I don't know spoilers, so idk how far they will go with this train of thought. He seemed so sad and troubled in the final hug with Cat. It made me feel a little season 1-ish. Cat was just the sweetest in this ep. I liked her calmer change of pace. I'm not saying she always has to follow someone else's leading - I'm only saying they're good actors who are portraying a relationship that has push and pull, and I liked seeing another side of Cat. I like when she's gung ho too. Missed Heather, but that should shock exactly no one.

New BATB revelations!! Hysterical alwayscrazedbatbfan!!! My Grandmother had an ongoing joke! If someone had an outrageous head of hair, obviously crooked toupe or wig - She'd say stay away from that one, a whole lot of outrage was soon going to be unleashed if you get into their atmosphere! And guess what as curious teens and young adults we kept our eyes on that person she was always right!

Any US Beasties watch the rerun of this one tonight?
I did, just need to have my BATB on Thursday nights!
This was such a great episode, tons of fun.
Cat looked gorgeous throughout this episode. No hair in a bun in this episode, a plus for me!
VinCat in harmony for the most part, except when Vincent gets beast amplified by channeling Liam.
Loved that they reused the Deja Vu beast vs. beast sound track when Vincent & Liam both realize the other's a beast during the beast fight.
Loved watching the VinCat ending again. The love was there, but the pensive look on Vincent's face foreshadowed the bigger threat to come.
Loved that they showed the trailer for the finale twice during the show. Not that anybody who is so hooked to watch a rerun would miss out on the finale. LOL.
Missing my Heather in this episode. I like her better as Cat's sidekick compared to Tess.
