I haven't had time to read all the comments, but! This. episode. rocked! No wasted scenes, major suspense. And yes, I am afraid for Vincat. More later!

This was a so/so ep for me. I'll watch it again tonight, as it airs, to see if maybe I'll feel differently. I liked Jason - he really is playing a evil Beast very well, but other parts just left me kinda flat. Who knows.. maybe I just need to put aside everything, and just look at this episode with fresh eyes again.

I loved the easy domesticity between Vincat. I adored Cat looking wistfully at the bride and groom figurine and hiding it from Vincent when he came in. I loved seeing Vincent changing clothes in the room he and Cat shared. And we got another Vincent eating scene. Chinese food straight from the fridge, then back in; couldn't tell if he used a fork or a spoon. I loved how finally it was acknowledged that Vincent and Catherine lean on each other as needed. Their relationship is fluid and the balance ebbs and flows, but always compliments. I loved Cat's softness this episode. She was worried for Vincent throughout, but she trusted him and kept her worry in check. She wasn't shrill or bossy about it. This Catherine has been hardly seen this season. JT is just a mess. He never lets his bodyguards do anything...they can't even use the bathroom. LOL He also made me laugh at the safehouse. I really felt him there. I'm kind of fussy about my surroundings and germs, too. So I died laughing when he put the TV remote in a plastic bag and covered the chair with a newspaper. On the other hand, Tess's reaction to all this foolishness is reminded me of me, too. I'm sometimes less tolerant of others' phobias, pet peeves, whatever. And the whole nature show analogy...(zebra/lion)?!? Hilarious. Liam is just damn scary. I have no doubt he will kill Vincent if they meet again because he may be a beast, but he is also extremely amped up. I have a bad feeling that someone is going to die this season. It was only a matter of time before JT started with the nose bleeds since all the other test subjects had them. Also nice reveal with Julianna's brother and his part in all of this. Loved the hug between Cat and Tess. For the first time EVER, I felt the bond between them. @alwyascrazedbatbfan, beast amplification was always an issue, starting back in Season 1 with Gabe. Vincent reacted strongly to him from the beginning because Gabe was a beast, the gang just didn't know it yet, so Tori holds no particular sway in that area. Maybe it's just me, but I loved it when Vincent pulled away from Cat and pretty much said, "back off." I like seeing his aggressive, alpha male side because I am a female who thoroughly appreciates the hardwired differences between the sexes. We've seen way too much "soft" Vincent this year for my liking. And this is not a criticism, just an observation because I LOVE Vincent no matter what. Also, did not miss Heather. Not once. Anyway, I can't wait to watch this again.

Happy Episode Day in the US!So I've moved the thread a bit early as I'm not 100% sure I'll be around closer to airing to move it then. For those who haven't watched yet, and won't be watching until the airing time tonight, do still be cautious with this thread until that time. Enjoy the episode everyone!

Way too soft for my liking. A boring supportive housewive whose job just obey what she told to do while her husband always lead the way and storyline.
As soon as they turned her into one of those stepford wives, instead of being the alpha, strong force who truly LEAD the show (see: Kate Beckett,Sarah walker,Sydney bristow,), thats when she got real boring.
And she only got her 'independent arc" for like what? One episode? Before back to being an obedient housewife.
And I couldnt careless about narcistic JT and his storyline(why is he getting more arc than Cat?),...way a mismatch for hot Tess!

IT IS FINALLY THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a US Beastie unable to see it earlier than the US air-date, I'm PSYCHED!!!! This one sounds WONDERFUL for 1) VinCat interaction, especially crisis-related, 2) continuation of beast-issues and how beasts affect one another, and 3) what Liam/Vincent future confrontations will be. Oh yeah, and 4) the serum issues.
Again, I still have questions regarding my above #2. I agree with you, ArwenFan, about how even in Season 1, Vincent knew there was "something" about Gabe, even before the "beast" issue was revealed. However, you have the whole Season 2 "refinement" of Vincent. Zauo (or however you spell that Muirfield guy's name) had said that someone had "stolen" the formula/whatever that would amp Vincent up and used it on him before he could do the same. And Vincent's beast powers were changed in multiple ways. (Certain stuff was amped up for him while he lost the ability to self-heal as he had done before, like when he was shot by Tess.)
So there is where I'd love for more "history" because we were told in Season 2 that the original serum apparently activated the dormant beast gene that certain individuals had. Yet, the serum can be "altered" (so I guess that means activitates a certain coding of genes??? who knows?). So what does Julianna's "serum" do? Activate the gene or whatnot? Her human experimentation is supposed to be different from the original experiments, so I am guessing tonight's episode will reveal how Liam was ALREADY (??) a beast before she further amplified her abilities with her serum?
So I am still wondering if there are different KINDS of beasts (since Vincent has been a beast with different powers, depending on the serum and later "enhancements" given by Bob Reynolds) based on serums/formulas used. And do all beasts tend towards madness UNLESS they have a love to anchor them to?
And Gabe never changed Vincent's feelings towards Cat. With Victoria, he was affected both mentally AND physically, while Gabe did not affect him physically (as in amping up his feelings OR making him physically more powerful/less humane towards others). So was that a result of Bob's and Zaou's tampering, or is that supposed to be typical of beasts in general? Still feel there are inconsistencies or more things to be learned about "beasts" and how they are "activated." We never learned how Alistair became a beast, or if Muirfield used a serum that had been created in the past.
So there is definitely a lot more out there that could be learned about beasts. And it will be interesting to see this episode and how it establishes the pattern about abilities and what-not. AND about how much power a beast has to actually fight his instincts. I mean, when, exactly, does the whole morality/anger/fight-or-flight stuff get triggered?
I anticipate needing to re-watch this episode several times to see Vincent's reactions to Liam (and vice versa). And how Liam approaches the situation in the future. I mean, WHY didn't LIAM know Vincent was a beast before this? He threw him around in the church when Vincent did not beast out at the time (and by the by, WHY didn't Vincent beast out in the church if he is SO affected by Liam's presence?) and never "sensed" something different about Vincent then. Sigh. Hopefully, many of my questions will be answered by the episode!!!
EXCITED EXCITED EXCITED THAT IT IS THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!

I think Liam is tracking them somehow when they get the nosebleeds. I think the first person (no idea about his name) had the nosebleeds and Liam was tracking him. Only after the first person was killed, the second person (don't remember his name either) got the nosebleeds when Liam started tracking him and only after he dies, Liam moved on to track JT and that's when he got the nosebleeds. Not sure how but he probably makes their noses bleed somehow to get blood out to be able to track them better. I'm surprised that it has not been discussed here before. It was the first thought I had. of course I might be wrong.

Many pre-emptions around the country for tonight's episode due to pre-season NFL games and some baseball games. In addition to NY and Baltimore, looks like West Palm Beach area, Des Moines, Sacramento/Modesto/Stockton probably others. Initial ratings should look better, but finals could be interesting. If I'm reading the Nielsen ratings correctly, there are only about 44 or so Nielsen members in the 18-49 demo currently watching the show. But there are 100 TV markets in the US, so in over half the markets, there are apparently no Nielsen people in the 18-49 demo watching the show. In theory, if the pre-empted markets are the ones with no Nielsen viewers watching BATB then our demo would stay the same, although it is hard to imagine that at least one of our 44 or so Nielsen viewers isn't in NY.

Beast amplification is beast amplification. Vincent growled and left claw marks on a tree the first time he encountered Gabe. And his Vincent's eyes glowed the first time he got close to Tori. Vincent's feelings towards Catherine didn't change as much as they were muddied by beast whatever you want to call it. And Tori was female, so their was the animal attraction/mate thing going on there. But my point is, Vincent has always reacted to the presence (known or unknown) of another beast.

I love that my instincts had already told me the Liam was a Beast not just enhanced! Again I have a strong sense that Liam is a descendant of the beast that taunted Alistair and I really hope that I am right! Hooray! Our VinCat are embarking on their destiny in the footsteps of Rebecca and Alistair! This time that have a strong team to support them in JT, Tess and our newly grown-up Heather! I expect that the action should be escalating from here on out and I'm holding on for the ride. I have craved the reveal regarding the Gem, VinCat's enviable relationship and the story of Rebecca and Alistair and Rebecca's diary!

Yes you called it right about Liam being a beast, I think you maybe right too about Liam being related to Alistair's nemesis. However, there's one easy way to defeat Liam - the Gem! We've not seen it yet this season, but I'm sure Cat still has it. Like most, I thought this was a terrific episode. Lots of action and suspense. Moreover, just the right touch of VinCat given the circumstances. I'm actually worried about them now.

Is there any episode of S3 that you've liked so far? I think S3 in general has had a bit more emphasis on Cat's character compared to S2. Can't say I like what they've done with her character at times, but she's often the driving force of each episode. Having said that, they're really a team now, so for me, each ep is about VinCat together.
