#TheCW These were a few tweets from the CW network president. I plan on playing BATB full episodes as much as possible on the computer. I just hit play on the first one and let it rip, I can pay bills or whatever while helping with online viewing. I do think we need to help get more viewers. I am going to try and get two more friends to watch on the 24th. I think episode 9 is a great one to get friends interested.

does anyone have any info on how batb is doing in repeat numbers compared to arrow and tvd? BATB is performing just as well as Arrow & TVD on repeats, which is excellent. What we need to somehow do now is improve the numbers for new episodes. I'm hoping some of the numbers we've been pulling on the repeats are new Nielson family viewers, who have heard about the show thanks to all of us and other BATB fans. If that's the case, that would mean we have higher numbers on the 24th! I would love to see us with a 0.7 or higher on the 24th. I'm just hoping this awful Valex S/L doesn't cause us to lose new viewers. There's enough sadness going on in the world right now. People don't want to watch Cat being sad and watch Vincent be a scoundrel. Even Pedowitz said the VinCat love is what makes this show! BATB writers need to quit trying to destroy the one thing that has fans so passionate about this show.

Remember also that every other ratings system other than Neilsen counts DVR numbers. If you live in the US and DVR the show and you play it without fast forwarding through commercials in the first 24 hours that counts. As soon as the show ends I hit play on my DVR even if I'm not going to watch it.

If you live in the US and DVR the show and you play it without fast forwarding through commercials in the first 24 hours that counts. As soon as the show ends I hit play on my DVR even if I'm not going to watch it. I have super channels on Dish Network, so I watch it 3x in one night. I DVR it on two different DVRs in my house. I watch it on DVR 2x in the first 24 hours, even if I'm not really watching it and just playing it in the background. I know that Dish Network and all the major providers keep track of this info and do somewhat share that info with the networks, so... hopefully all my tuning in is helping even though I'm not a Nielson family. Also I do play it on The CW's website (even though I think their video player is awful) and I have BATB down as a Favorite on Hulu and all the vids are added to my queue and I watch them... so, yeah, a whole ton of BATB watching. haha. Really hope it helps. true ^ i just have some question that may sound idiotic but i really just dont get it! how do houses become Nielson viewers and if they have multiple things being seen at once do they all counst and if the dvr it does it still count? Not a stupid question at all! Nielson chooses the households. They claim they do research on the household to choose which one. I've heard if you don't have a landline number, you'll never get chosen for the actual box system. Not sure if that's true. Pretty much though there's nothing you can do to increase your chances. You just have to hope that Nielson comes by your house, condo, apartment, or dorm room looking to add you to the family for the year. IF you're a household that has "the box" that does live numbers, those boxes will be hooked up to every TV and DVR you have in your entire household. (Even TVs that don't work!) You will be given what looks like a remote that you will literally have to "check-in" with that you're watching a show every 30 minutes. (That's how BATB and other shows lose viewers halfway in. If they don't click that they are still watching, Nielson assumes the person just left their TV on.) DVR viewings are counted for 1 day, 3 day, and 7 days. The only one that matters at all, truly, is 1 day, because the advertisers really only care about 1 day. (Network PR loves talking about 7 day and all that though.) There's only like maybe 3,000 Nielson families though that represent the entire US watching audiences. Out of those, not everyone in the "family" is in the 18-49 demo that matters to advertisers. It's the worst system, imo. AND it can be faked. Seriously. You can "check-in" people as guests, so you could count people that aren't really there or pretend your dog is a human being. Nielson tried to give people iPhones and monitor computer usuage to try to get internet viewing and surfing monitored. It was a failure. They are now trying to monitor Twitter and social media. I have no clue how effective that is. The only reason that Nielson is still in business is because it's the most reliable numbers that the advertisers have. If another company comes along and can give the reliability and offer info on multiple media sources (TV, DVR, internet), it is possible that Nielson would be replaced. But, for now, people just accept the system for what it is and accept that it is flawed and that shows get cancelled that shouldn't have been.

honestly its just an awful system! and the way they only take 3000 families... really? that is so inefficient, thats why there is no good knowledge of the things people are really watching!

It is definitely an awful system! But it's, unfortunately, what we have to deal with this year and probably for BATB's entire run, even if it goes into a Season 2, 3, and so on. The good thing is that CW is on a station that skews lower in age, so the CW President and others working for the CW are trying to track places other than Nielson, such as looking at online viewing. I think if Beasties keep up the momentum we've had so far, we will get a Season 2. We just have to keep letting the CW know we're watching.

CW could choose to renew both BATB and HOD; it really depends on whether they want to give 90210 a final 13 episode order in the Fall. If TPTB @ CW decided to give 90210 a mid-season final 13 episodes, then it's possible HOD and BATB could both remain.
OR if 90210 ends in May, BATB and HOD could both stay.
This is assuming both TCD and Cult flop, which they really have to for BATB's sake.
On that note, even though this BATB ratings, we've discussed repeat numbers and everything for other shows...
This is what TCD did last night. (I've compared it to BATB's premiere numbers.)
PREMIERE - The Carrie Diaries - 0.6 demo // 1.60 viewers (million) PREMIERE - Beauty & the Beast - 1.2 demo // 2.78 viewers (million) Remember that all that matters to the CW is the demo #. TCD did repeat the Premiere and it received the following...
REPEAT - The Carrie Diaries - 0.4 demo // 0.93 viewers (million)
Even if you add TCD's two demo numbers together (which would be silly to do as some people may have watched the show 2x in a row), BATB did better with its premiere. AND BATB had way less promotion.
Tonight HOD comes back. Whatever # HOD makes demo-wise, BATB has to beat on the 24th. It would be OK to match, but we really have to try to beat. As such, keep urging people to tune in to watch BATB, especially on the internet. (You never know who will be a Nielson family!!)

Wow for how heavily promoted Carrie Diaries is, you couldn't turn around without seeing a preview of it, those ratings are TERRIBLE. If TCD had come out 10 years ago in the middle of the "Sex in the City" craze it would have done amazing. Good idea, just to late. But I was prepared to have BATB ratings killed by TCD.
